Course Curriculum Overview

4

After graduation, I was looking for an interesting master's course. When I learned about TISS from my school friend, the course curriculum sounded very interesting. Of the courses available at the Tuljapur campus, I was interested in Development Policy, Planning, and Practice (DPPP). The aspect of studying the analysis and framing of policies interested me. Here I could get to work with NGOs as well as state livelihoods missions. Here is my course, there are currently 23 students and per semester there are 4-5 teachers and 1-2 guest lecturers. On average, the faculty-student ratio is 1:25 The teachers are all Ph.D. holders and have long teaching experiences. They teach in classroom mode with the help of ppts and share study material on the student portal. We have a big library as well. Apart from them, the professors share some articles and video materials as well. Timely exams are followed. Difficulty level I would say 3/5.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Azim Premji Foundations, HCL foundation, ICICI foundations, BAIF, Antra, OLM, United Way Bangalore, Deshpande Foundations, ORMAS, Lets Endorse, etc hire for jobs and internships. Based on the course the students are in, they are hired for various roles. The main position offered is the Associate.

Placement Experience

3.5

The students join in large numbers in this college because of better placements only. They are aware of the same before admission. There is a placement cell called CGPC on the campus which consists of students from the final year. They take care of the students' placement needs. There are many companies like BAIF, Pradan, Kudumbshree, Rajivika, Bihar SRLM, MP SRLS, ORMAS, OLM, Antra, APF, etc. 100% of students get placed from all the courses. Some students of SIE go for establishing their own business enterprise and they do not sit for placements, some want to go for higher studies. Those who wish to get a job all get a job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees at the beginning of the course are shared. It remains the same for the whole course. We have varying fees. 32k for the first sem, 30K for the second, around 48k for the third, and 42k for the final. The first two sem were offline so only college fees and no hostel fees. The last two semesters were in offline mode so per semester 31k for dining and hostel charges. There is a student scholarship from the institute for the poor and needy students where 50% of the tuition fees is relaxed. I got it one semester. The name is Student Financial Aid. The SC/ST candidates have no fees to pay. There is another govt. scholarships like GOPMI (govt. post metric scholarship) etc. The course offers 100% campus placement. The average is 6-6.5lpa

Campus Life

4

If I have to describe it in one word about campus life, it is "AWESOME." The students get to explore a 100-acre campus. There are many clubs like debate, dance, sports, animals, cultural, etc. The departments have individual annual programs like SASHWAT, NRYF, National Policy Symposium, and Confluence. The annual functions happen mostly in February and March months. The classrooms have projectors and other basic amenities. The library has reading rooms, wifi, and a lot of books, and magazines. The online library portals have previous dissertations and research papers as well.

Admission

The admission process has three steps. The first one was applying for the TISS_NET exam. The forms are available on the TISS official website. The application fee was around 500 (I do not remember exactly) and the form came in January. We had to apply for the exam and choose the exam center. The syllabus was a mix of English, reasoning, and current affairs. The total mark was 100 for 100 questions. Depending on the course we are hoping to be selected for the cut-off varies. I applied for three courses. Two in the Mumbai campus and one in the Tuljaour campus. After the result, I was selected for Tuljapur, the DPPP course. The second round was a DAF, i.e. Detailed application form where we were given three essay types of questions. After this, there was a Personal Interview (PI) round. Although I belong to the OBC category, as I did not have the certificate at that time, I applied from the unreserved category. Overall, the process was smooth.

Other Applied Colleges

Tata Institute of Social Sciences - [TISS] | Master in Hospital Administration [MHA]

My cutoff for the course was short of a couple of marks, thus I took admission in Tuljapur campus.
