- The campus is located on outskirts of town so sometimes its problematic
Course Curriculum Overview
Since this course of BA social work from TISS is ranked no.1 in India so this was my reason to pursue this course. The curriculum is designed really well focusing on your real life learning , through practical experiences and fieldwork. Frequency of exams is low, they mostly happen once in 4 months and difficulty level is moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Gandhi fellowship - 26k/month Dasra fellowship - 35k/month Ashoka fellowship -0 Most students of my batch are pursuing masters as of now, but you can easily get a job in ngo if you will because they love to hire TISS students.
Placement Experience
Last semester students are eligible for campus placements , a lot of Ngos visit the campus , also a few companies visit campus , the most famous one being ICICI bank and SBI . Earlier UN also used to come but since COVID they haven't came . Nearly all the students who wish to get a job , are placed. Highest package this year was at 9Lpa in masters course.
Fees and Financial Aid
Over the year the fees has been on the rise . Initially during covid when classes were online we were charged 8600 / semester. But once we came physically to the college , the fees was around 10-12000 / sem as tution fee and 15000 for hostel and 16000 as mess charges per semester. Yes there were scholarship for students from backward economic category or the SC/ST students , an interview was held for the same and students were provided relief in the fees ranging from 12-25k of fees .
Campus Life
NRYF is our annual fest and it is very good , lot of books are accessible and a lot of classroom have tech boards and projectors. Sports need to be focused more on.and a lot of clubs are there in college
Hostel Facilities
Just ask in academic section , they take ur signature and u're done. It is very tough to rent outside the college as college is far from town , so try getting hostel as everyone stays in hostel only.it is affordable with just 30k per year
Admission
I was more of a defence aspirant and got into OTA but was later medically unfit so I choosed TISS as my back-up option. I had confirmed admissions from IMU Mumbai , Vizag and All the Nits of north east and Nit Srinagar. Also i had offers from Nirma University and SRM and Symbiosis University. But TISS was most reputed of them all so i preferred coming here , also the academic load isn't very high here was a reason for me to join here so i can polish my other skills without compromising study. Now the admission process for TISS is different , we gave TISS bat exam and merit list was prepared based on that , cut-off was around 35 marks out of 50 for general category students. Now the admission is done through CUET UG exam and I don't have much idea about it.
Faculty
Faculty to student Ratio is quite good as i can say that for every 30 students there were 4 faculty members , or 1 faculty for every 6-7 students. The faculty was very friendly and approachable, i personally liked Shridhar sir and Deepak Abnave sir , they can possibly be the best faculty we have
Interview Experience
No i did not but it's true for my juniors , they are interviewed by our faculty, the interview is not very tough, just stay confident and answer what ever you know. Mostly it revolves around whatever you tell in your introduction part.
Night Life
It has the best nightlife to offer. Complete peace around mountains and Big lake beneath college with a clear sky and walkable yellow street, timings are flexible and guards are very polite.famous spots are 3rd hill , lake , Pluto joint and yellow street
