Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I was interested in electronics and their applications in the field of robotics. The faculty-to-student ratio at NIT is considerably low. the faculty at NIT JSR are highly qualified and most of them are very helpful yet some of them lack teaching abilities. Two scheduled examinations happen each semester and the questions are moderately tough. It's easy to pass the examinations with continuous studying.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are quite good in our college. One can get an internship with a 50k-150k stipend. With sound coding skills and good applicable projects in your field, you can easily grab an internship here.
Placement Experience
the best thing about NIT Jamshedpur is its placements. placements wise our nit will come in the top 5 nits. placement seasons start here in July/August. As companies come from a variety of areas like core engineering, noncore fields like it and analytics.. mechanical and electrical are two good branches for placements in NIT Jsr. Companies like Tata, GE, and PSUs like BPCL have visited. But main placements are from IT fields as a lot of companies visit for noncore fields like Codenation, Amazon, Atlassian, Salesforce, etc. The highest package from NIT stands at 70 lacks per annum and average packages stand at around 8-9 lakhs per annum. Almost every student got placed so the placement percentage is quite good, 90%+ for top branches. I plan to work as an ML engineer and research in the field of quantum computing.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for the course is Rs.160000 per annum. Students of marginalized communities can avail of scholarships but everyone from poor financial backgrounds is provided some financial assistance and a tution fee waiver. I got 2/3rd fee remission on tution fees and I do an internship in a company to fund my fees and expenses. One can get an education loan to fund their fees.
Campus Life
The infrastructure of the campus is good. The sports culture is good here and there are plenty of clubs to enjoy and upgrade your hobbies e.g. photographs, singing, dancing, quizzing, entrepreneurship, etc. The library is average here. The classrooms are well-developed and equipped with new projectors and speakers. There is an annual sports event named URJA that happens where teams of all branches participate and try to make their branch winner. There are many social groups like Awahan, LDS, and rooms where one can polish their social skills.
Hostel Facilities
hostels in nit Jamshedpur are one of the best in the country, as new mega hostels are constructed which have single occupancy. In the first year, double occupancy is provided but in the second year, you will be shifted to single rooms. there is a 24*7 supply of power and water facilities. Mess is also quite affordable(rs 18000 for 6 months) food is also quite good. In NIT Jamshedpur taking hostels is compulsory but from the previous semester, students can choose whether to take hostels or not. If you take pgs they would be a little costlier and transport will be difficult as College gate is 1.5 km from the main academic building and you have to walk or bicycle bikes are not allowed for students.
Admission
To get admission to NIT Jamshedpur, I attempted the infamous JEE Mains test and secured a rank of 20222. The application fee for JEE main in 2020 was Rs.650/- for each attempt. The application form and details of the entrance test can be found on the site of NTA jee main. I want to make the admission process more simpler and provide students with more data about the courses and their future scopes so they can choose wisely in the rounds of counseling.
