Course Curriculum Overview
I was quite interested in electrical engineering and this college Nit Jamshedpur is good (placement-wise) and also very near to my hometown. The faculties are quite good and they are very supportive. Almost all faculty have done Ph.D. from top IITS, some also had done from foreign universities. Semester exams are not that hard, most students start their preparation 1 week ago before exams.
Internships Opportunities
The only best thing about NIT Jamshedpur is placement. According to placement wise, our NIT is in the top 5 NITs. Placement season starts in college around August, as companies started to come. As companies mainly come from two areas: non-core and core. Most companies come for noncore and most students get placed in non-core ( IT field). Mechanical is one of the good branches in our college for core placement, as TATA company frequently visited our campus and this year one PSU (BPCL) has come and taken 4 students. Internship opportunities are also quite good, but most people are not able to intern.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is not very much high as compared to IITs and private colleges, loan facility is also and you get full assistance in taking a loan from a college bank (SBI). In college, most student, have fee remission based on their parent's income. If your parent's income is less than 1 lakh then you get full remission and if more than 1 lakh and less than 2.5 lakhs then you get 2/3 fee remission.
Campus Life
There are too many fests happening in college such as CULFEST, OJASS (techno-management fest), and urja (sports fest). The classroom is quite hi-tech as a new academic building is being constructed. Sports facilities are also quite good, and the annual sports fest is organized by the college. Our college website is managed by the student, and are two coding clubs in our college- Pcon, and Innoreva.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels in NIT Jamshedpur are one of the best hostels in countries, as new mega hostels have been constructed which have single occupancy. In the first year, double occupancy is provided, but in the second year, you will be shifted to a single occupancy room. In the hostels, power cut does not happen, there are 24*7 lights and water facilities given. Mess is also quite affordable(Rs 18000 for 6 months), food is also quite good. In this NIT Jamshedpur, taking hostels is compulsory, but from the previous semester option is given to take a hostel and mess facility, if you want to take pg then it cost around 3-4 thousand, but the distance from the main academic building to the main college gate is 1.5 km, which is quite difficult to walk and you have to bicycle as the bike is not allowed.
Admission
JEE MAINS is the entrance exam, the registration for this exam is online and a notification comes between January to February. The admission process is quite smooth, first qualifying for the exam, after qualifying josaa counseling will happen and according to your rank college is decided.
