Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Firstly to the one who's reading it, let me tell you one thing. If you're very much motivated enough about any subject you want to choose then definitely go for it. In my honest review, Social Work never came to my mind at first thought. It took me a lot of research and time. Let me give you a brief of what exactly is Social Work. Most of you would say that it's about helping people, and a lot of other stuff. But readers, I must tell you one thing, Social Work isn't just limited to the idea of helping people, it is also about making people capable enough to help themselves. And for that work, you need a whole different level of motivation. The best part about this course (BSW), it gives you both practical and theoretical-based forms of learning, so obviously, you can imagine that you don't have to sit and attend classes till 5 in the evening. Fieldwork is the core subject here, and with that, you would get other important papers like Public Health, Criminology, and Community Organisation.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

So before talking about the internships, let me first introduce you guys to the orientation visits. So, our time in 2019, we had 18 organizational visits. We visited many diverse organizations working on different subject matters such as Priyobondhu, AVA creations, NECHRI, B. Barooah Cancer Institute, and many more. The stipend is something very rare when you're working as an intern. Well, that would vary too. Briefly talking about everything, as a part of the internship thing, I worked for the Paham Kanchoh community, NEthing WLTC, Global Organization for Life Development, and Grameen Sahara. Besides that, a dissertation is another significant part of the 6th semester.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

If I've to compare, the fees here it's comparatively low. But that would depend on what course are you applying for. For BSW, every semester we had to pay 25,000. Additionally, with the exam fees and everything, I spent a total of 2lacs for 3 years. And the quality of education is in very good shape as of now. As I'm from the 2019 batch, I can't just give you my firm words that things won't change. Swagata Hazarika, one of the oldest profs here in NERIM, has been my guide throughout my college days, and one the best I can say. With her, there are other profs such as Mridual Kumar Barman(Field Coordinator), Alina Dutta Roy (current HOD), Barsha Kalita, and many more. In conclusion, the quality of education is not at all compromised here, students are given proper guidance in everything, including thesis supervision too. Job assistance is a concern but it's best for a student to not depend much on the institution. There's a placement cell but I can't say much about its functionality.

Campus Life

3.5

Library books are quite accessible. Classes are well-spaced with ACs and Projectors. In general, college life is good enough. Well, I wasn't much into this extracurricular stuff, but there's something or the other always going on inside the campus.

Admission

If you've scored more than 45% on your boards, you're very much eligible for most of the courses in NERIM. Secondly, the application form can be availed from the administration itself. Further, for any queries about the admission process, you can reach out to them through the numbers provided on the website. In terms of reservation, I don't have the precise information, because, in these 3 years of my graduation, I didn't find any student talking about its benefits. Lastly, the admission process is quite very haste free, you just need to have all the original documents for the purpose of verification and most importantly to be admitted into the course. So yeah, make sure you keep the documents updated beforehand.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to become a professional social worker and also to become a graduate. Very nice faculty members 15 faculty were there that time in 2020. 20:2 was the student and teacher ratio approximately. It is semester-type exam every 6 months. And the difficulty of the exam is moderate.
