Course Curriculum Overview
The exposure you get while in an MBA program, especially in offline mode is huge. Since I wanted to make my career in the Investment Banking field, I thought MBA would be the best course for me to give a headstart to my career. The Faculty to Student ratio here is approximately 10:1 and any student can approach the faculty members in case of any concerns. They are very knowledgeable, experienced and helpful and try to give us insights into how the learnings from the curriculum can be applied to real-life corporate scenarios. We constantly have to go through some kind of evaluation in terms of assignments, presentations and class tests which again helps us improve ourselves. With regard to the term exams, we follow a trimester method, that is, there will be 3 trimesters in 1 year and therefore the term-end exams happen at the end of each trimester.
Internships Opportunities
The roles offered for SIP's are ones which have a huge learning opportunity. The stipend ranges from Rs.20000- Rs. 80000. The locations provided to the students for the SIP's are not just restricted to Bangalore. They may have to relocate for their internships.
Placement Experience
from the 2nd Trimester, the process for SIP's starts and from the 5th Trimester the process for FPs starts. A lot of companies come on board to hire students and offer approximately Rs. 12,00,000 on average with the highest being close to around Rs. 20,00,000. There has been 100% placement recorded by the college in the past few years.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost to study MBA at NMIMS is a bit costly but it all feels worth it according to the teaching quality and the exposure they provide to us to make us better future managers. The companies they get onboard both for the Summer Internships and Final Placements are well established companies and they ensure to place each and every student in the SIP's and FPs.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is amazing and has a very good learning environment. The scope for networking here is very huge because as part of the various clubs and committees we are required to reach out to different people for our fests and events. The classrooms here are very spacious and clean with the provision of a smart whiteboard. We are provided with course books in the first year and the library contains a lot of books and journals to gain knowledge from it also has a digital library section for books not available physically.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel of NMIMS, Bangalore is very good compared to other college hostels. the registration process for the hostel was quite simple just like an application form which required us to give certain documents for proof. The rooms here are allowed on a random basis and therefore someone might get a room that he/ she might not be comfortable with the hostel authorities do not generally change the room allotments. we are provided with breakfast, snacks and dinner on weekdays and saturdays and the lunch is provided in college for the hostelites. breakfast and lunch are provided on sundays so we have to manage our dinner on sundays.
Admission
The first round of the admission process was the NMAT exam which had a cut-off of around 70-80 for each section. To give the NMAT exam you have to register yourself for the exam and also the NMIMS college to get your marks accepted by the college. The application form for the same is available on the official website of NMIMS. The application dates for applying to the college close around November. You are allowed to take 3 attempts for the exam and you have to pay for the application every time you sit for another attempt. After clearing the cut-off for each section you are shortlisted for the GDPI and PI and lastly selected on the basis of a composite score you obtain.
Interview Experience
For the selection process, we went through a GD and a PI. For the GD, we were given situations and had to come out with solutions to the same and for some groups, they were asked to discuss one of the major current news and what their take on that would be. The GD went for around 15-20 minutes. With regard to the PI, they asked questions based on my Resume and my interests and some current affairs.
