Course Curriculum Overview
I found the course structure quite interesting. The faculty-student ratio is about 1:8. All the faculty members have PhD in different fields of metallurgy and some faculty have teaching experience of around 35+ years. The term exams occur twice a semester i.e. midsemester and end the semester and are not too difficult. They are sometimes challenging and hard to score but mostly they are scorable.
Internships Opportunities
Various top companies such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, google and various others companies visit our campus for the intern hiring process. the maximum stipend can go up to 2 lacs offered by Sprinklr this year.
Placement Experience
The placements at the college are decent with the highest package around 55 lacs and the average package around 14 to 15 lacs. Nearly all the students who get placed are eligible for the placement process. Around 300-400 companies visit our campus for the hiring process.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure varies from around 115000 - 125000 for general category students and the mess fee is around 15000 per semester. Scholarships are provided to reserved category students with a concession of 1 lakh per semester and some other scholarships are provided on the basis of the economical status of the student. One of the scholarships is the MCM scholarship which covers around 80% of the fees and is based on financial status.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is quite interesting and joyful with a different type of fest each semester and various events and competitions taking place. One such event is SRIJAN which is a cultural fest that takes place in February. Our college has one of the largest libraries and thousands of books and journals available to enhance our knowledge. Classes are well equipped with projectors and speakers with a comfortable environment to study. our college has a Sports Activity Centre (SAC) for sports activities. It is equipped with each and every sports facility, in addition to this we have two large size grounds for athletics and other outdoor sports. There are many clubs run by college students in different fields.
Hostel Facilities
We have various hostels for different hostels for each batches of students. We generally have a double occupancy room. The food quality is average and is just enough for survival. We have to submit a form at the start of the semester for registration at the hostel.
Admission
To enrol in any of IIT you have to first qualify JEE Mains Exam and then after successfully qualifying you have to qualify JEE Advance exam with a good rank. The application form for the mains exam is released on the NTA portal twice a year. And if qualify for the MAINS exam at least once, then you will have to register for the Advance exam on jee advance website. I am from a general category so no reservation benefits are availed. I think the overall admission process is quite smooth and easy to register. But I think the registration fee for both exams should be equal for all candidates irrespective of their social background, only economically weaker students should be given a concession in fee. Other than that the whole process is online and anyone can be able to access it.
