Remarks
The infrastructure is good but the downside is that it is expensive and the management is strict. You can't expect much freedom like wearing whatever you want or going out of the campus whenever you want.
Entrance Preview
Took tamil nadu state board exams and joined through tamil nadu single window counselling. Scored 93% marks. I opted because of the infrastructure available.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure is very thorough and gives more importance to understanding. Different teaching techniques like mind mapping, discussion etc were used.Lots of open electives are available. The electives are diverse and there are options to take electives from different departments.
Internships Opportunities
My department allowed for internship in the last semester. We were asked to either opt for project or internships. Lots of companies in and around Coimbatore and erode provided internships.
Placement Experience
Placements were available for us in both IT sector and core fields. Lots of students were placed in TCS and the package was around Rs.28,000 p.m. Jobs in core fields were obtained through internships. The package offered was around Rs.12000. Companies were mostly around coimbatore and erode.
College Events
Each department holds a technical symposium every year. My department too held technical symposiums. Lots of workshops were also conducted for both college students and other professionals. Every year a three day cultural cum technical symposium called Futura is held, in this every department conducts various technical events and the last day is for culturals. Other than that hostel days are also celebrated. Pongal festival is also celebrated.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since it is a private college fees are high. Even though there are good facilities available, fee is high compared to government aided colleges. Fees for hostelers were around 1.5 lakhs per year, for day-scholars it was around 80,000 per year. I think the fee has been increased this year so please check with the college.
Fees and Financial Aid
Central government scholarships are given to eligible people. Since i didn't avail any scholarship i don't know much about it.
Campus Life
Gender ratio depends mostly on departments, Mechanical department has only boys, civil has a ratio of 10:3 for boys and girls. Campus life is ok, mobile phones are not allowed in the classrooms, we were asked to wear only formal clothing. Student parties are a strict no in the campus and hostel. There are lots of clubs from reading to sports, personality development, environmental club etc.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms were very good and clean. There are rooms shared by four people and two people. Very few single rooms are available. Seats are available for all the students. Hostel has free WiFi, gym facilities are available and badminton courts are present in the center of the hostel buildings. Mess food is average but compared to most of the colleges it is good. Only vegetarian food is available in the mess but non-vegetarian food is available in the cafeteria.
Alumni/Alumna
The college has an alumni association which convenes once a year at the college and in different cities like mumbai, chennai etc. They also post vacancies in their companies regularly.
Exam Structure
Two internal assessment tests were conducted and one final exam was conducted. The marks were divided like 50 for final exam, 25 for internal exams, 25 for assignment and attendance. Usually there were three labs per semester. Each lab was scheduled once a week. It wasn't a very hectic schedule. We had lots of free time.
Admission
After the allocation of seats through counselling, one month time was given to complete the admission process. I went to the college to pay the admission fees and furnish my details. It was a smooth process. Had to fill two forms, one for college and the other for hostel. Administration was good and helpful.
Faculty
There were many experienced faculties in my department. They were willing to share their knowledge and encouraged students to ask doubts. Many professors have completed their Ph.D and many were pursing their Ph.D. But new inexperienced staffs were lacking in making the students understand the concepts.
