Course Curriculum Overview
I am in the Mechanical Engineering department at IIT Indore. The faculty members are good, they are well qualified. The course curriculum is well distributed through different semesters. One course can be taught by multiple faculties. The faculty: student ratio is quite good too. The teaching methods of some faculty are conventional and we had two years of college online, so in that period we couldn't communicate properly with professors. The exams are easy to pass even if you study one week before the exam.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for placements in their 7th semester. The companies visited include Google, Amazon, Codenations, Arcesium, DE Shaw, Rippling, and many more. Enough companies visit that provides SDE role. Apart from this, core companies like TI also came to our campus. The average package is 15-20 lacs. Almost all the students who try for placements get placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is some remission in tuition fees based on parents' annual income, so you need not worry about that. You cannot get any jobs on campus as such, but you can get an internship after your 3rd year, which can help you a bit. Otherwise, students can always take education loans and can repay them quickly after getting placed.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is good. Various cultural and sports events keep happening. The annual fest of IIT Indore is Fluxus which generally used to happen in January, but this time it is happening in March. IIT Indore is conducting its very own tech fest first time this year. I am sure it's going to be a huge success. Books are available too in the library. The classrooms are well equipped with projectors, mics, air-conditioning, etc. There are clubs for almost every other activity in college. If you are interested in anything, then you can join clubs related to that and can enjoy and learn a lot.
Admission
I gave JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. There was a 90 percentile cut-off to clear JEE Mains. The students qualified for JEE Mains can share JEE Advanced. Based on JEE Advanced marks, we got an AIR (All India Rank). Based on AIR, I predicted which college I could enter through previous year trends. Then, JOSSA counselling took place; we registered for it and filled in our choice filling based on what college we wanted to get into, and we put that first in counselling. There were seven rounds of counselling. Based on choice filling, I was allotted a seat in my college. I was a female candidate so I also got some reservations.
