Student Life in IIT Indore

Computer Science is the most demanding course nowadays. I had an interest in computer science since our school had these courses. Faculty Student ratio is around 1:10 which is very good since we get a lot of attention be it academic curriculum or extra activities. All faculties members are PhD graduates with experience of over 6-7 years. Faculty member uses the board for each important concept while some use PowerPoint presentation to teach but everyone is ready to clear doubts anytime. There are only two exams in an academic session of 6 months, mid-sem and end sem which are scheduled at a gap of 2 months and 5 months from the start of the academic session. Exams are quite easy to pass since papers are made fully from class teaching and noting new or external is asked. Plus if you attend class it becomes too easy.

Companies come for internships in 3rd year of Btech. Google: Software Eng 1.1 L De Shaw: Sotfware Eng. 1.5L Goldman Sachs: Core Eng., Quant 1.5L Flipkart: Software Eng. 1L Arcesium: Software Eng. 1.25L Amazon: Software Eng. 80k Projects on Database Management, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Operations Systems, and Optimization Techniques are helpful in learning and clearing the interviews.

Companies are called for internships in the third year and placements too are provided for fourth-year, master's and PhD students. In Semester 7 BTech companies are called for placements in the college. Companies like Google, DeShaw, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Flipkart, Arcesium, etc. come to the college. The placement ratio is almost 100%. Different companies make different offers ranging from 10 to 20 each. The highest package is 1.5 crore while the average package is over 18 lakhs. Various positions are offered from Civial engineer, software engineer, etc Almost 98% of students get placed each year. I plan to take a job

The fees structure for an academic session is around 1lakh 33 thousand and 5 thousand which includes everything starting from tution fees of 1lakh, mess fees of 12000, hostel fees of 16000 and other expenses like medical insurance, examination fees, gymkhana fees, etc. There is no hike is education fees and it stays at 1lakh each year. SC/ST students and students with family income less than have full wavier of education fees of 1lakh Students with family income between 1lakh and 5 lakh have 66% wavier of education fees. I got fees wavier based on family income only.

Fluxus is our annual fest which includes technical plus cultural events. It is central India's largest fest. It is conducted in the month of Feb and March each year. It has the participation of over 20k students all over India and brings top artists to perform on our campus. Hacthlons, Gold Gulf, Blind Date, Prom Night etc are a few of the events under it. We have a huge library of over 10k books. Availability of books is never an issue since each book has many copies. Online subscriptions to various e-journals are also provided. Each classroom is fully air-conditioned with projected mic system benches. We have all the sports facilities including swimming, squash, football, cricket, and chess. etc. with separate court/ground for each. We also have an indoor sports complex with a gym, badminton, table tennis, squash volleyball, and basketball inside it. College is full of clubs starting from financial club to technical club to student gymkhana Everyone can join any club based on their interest.

We have 5 BHK rooms where 5 students live. 6th room is under construction. Each flat has a sofa and table. Each room has a bed, study table, almira with lock curtains, and 2 windows. Each flat has joint bathrooms and washrooms 2 in number each. Hostels are air-conditioned with proper ventilation. Each hostel has separate sports facilities too. There are two caterers each has the same menu. We are allowed to choose the one we want at the start of each month. Food Quality is well better than free items. Hostels are allocated based on our year of study. PhD, Masters, girls and boys have separate hostels. Each room is singly occupied which gives privacy. The college is located on outskirts of the Indore city still there are lots of rented rooms available just outside our college.
