IITJ is Very Good

Admission to the IIT Jodhpur B.Tech program is through the JEE Advanced exam. First, We have to apply for the JEE Mains exam. In our year, we had 4 Mains Exams, as 2021 saw the peak of Covid Wave 2 in India. Around the Top 2, 50,000 students are selected for JEE Advanced. And according to the rank secured in Advanced, seat allocation and admission are done through the JoSAA portal.

The course curriculum is up-to-date and industry-required. We also have the flexibility to choose minors, specializations, electives, etc, in domains in which we are interested. Almost all the faculty of the department have Ph.Ds. from IITs or some foreign universities. The teaching method is alright. Some teach from slides, while most of them use to project the tab/iPad screen and write on it(well, class strength demands a projector). For each semester, we have 2 minor tests (1 hour duration) and a major test at the end(2 hours), Quizzes, assignments, and tutorials happen from time to time. As it is relative grading, the chances of failing a course are very less(sometimes, maybe more, depending on the professor). Some may feel the academic load is more, but it isn't anything unbearable, just keep yourself up to date in all courses.

The Internships here are also good. The on-campus interns are available for 3rd year B.Tech students who may also apply for MITACS research intern. Aside from that, we have design credits, where we have to do the project under a professor (3 projects for the whole degree).

The overall placement record is very good. For the academic year 2021-22, the placement statistics read overall 97.28% for B.Tech with 100% for CSE and BB and 95% for EE, 91% for ME. Some of the companies that come are Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, Samsung, Goldman Sachs, Intel, American Express, Barclays, Cisco, Morgan Stanley, TCS, Infosys, JIO, BHEL, ISRO, DRDO, Optum, etc.

Well, The Tuition fee for each semester is 1,00,000. We have to pay around 27k as a semester fee which includes room rent, laundry, and medical. etc. charges, aside from that we have to pay a mess fee, which is around 128 per day (around 3840 per month). Almost all IITs have similar fee structures. SC /ST and also students whose family income is less than 1,00,00 per year don't need to pay the tuition fee and students having family income between 1 lakh and 5 lacs have to pay only 33% of the tuition fee. We have Canara Bank and SBI branches inside the campus itself where we can avail of the education(scholar) loan.

Overall, Campus life is nice. We have a library, which is almost all the course books. The classrooms are equipped with projectors, white screens, and green boards. There are more than 15 student clubs and societies, which are always buzzing with activities. There are at least 5-6 fests every year and EDM nights.

The best thing about our hostels is we get a single room equipped with a bed, table, almirah, chair, and AC! (Yes, AC, having a college in Jodhpur does have its perks). We have Geysers for hot water and water purifiers on each floor for drinking water. There is 24 hour Wi-Fi facility and each room also has a LAN Port.
