Remarks
I would say that this college was not good but the students who joined this college were excellent at my time. This college comes under top colleges in Chhattisgarh state. If you have a better ranking, I would suggest that you go with Bhilai institute of Technology. It is a better college both in terms of faculty and students.
Entrance Preview
Exam name-CGPET Rank-881 Reason for joining-It was the best available college I could get in with this ranking.
Course Curriculum Overview
It was fine. It had all the required context. Our university was Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananada Technical University. The syllabus formed by the university was good. Only problem was the practical labs and the practical exam were not upto the mark. Practicals were not given much importance and were taken lightly.
Internships Opportunities
No. There was no internship in Shri Shankracharya college of engineering and technology at the time when I was studying.
Placement Experience
Placements and job opportunities were OK. Companies such as TCS, Infosys and cognizant used to visit at my college and they were the mass recruiters of our college. The package these companies offered was low ranging from 2.75 to 3.2 lakhs per year. Placement coordination activity was also OK. Interviews used to happen even late at night
College Events
A lot of fests were organized in our college. All the festivals such as Diwali. Dusshera, Holi, pujas, new year's and Christmas celebration were held and sometimes it was made mandatory to attend some of the sessions. Hostel students and day scholars used to enjoy theses celebrations
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees of the Shankracharya College of Engineering and Technology at my time was only 32000 rs. per year. I am not sure if it has been increased or not. Even with the increment, I believe it is a very affordable college. In addition to this, there was a security deposit of around 10000. I am not sure of this value now.
Fees and Financial Aid
I do not know of any such scholarship and loan facilities. Our college fees was nominal when compared to colleges in big cities. So I don't believe anybody in our college availed loan facilities to pay off student fees.
Campus Life
Campus life was very good. I made some of the best friends in this college. Gender ratio for computer engineering department was good. It must be around 65% boys and 35% girls in each of the two computer science section. However, There were not many girls in Mechanical branch.
Hostel Facilities
I was a day scholar but I visited my friends in hostel often. I did not find their living condition very good. Rooms were not very well maintained and the food was not upto the mark. Around 4 students used to cram up and accommodate inside one room to sleep. Other than that, room sizes were good.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni and senior students were quite helpful. There was no ragging in the college as it was strictly prohibited. The seniors provided a lot of insights into the next level courses and materials. Some of the alumni are doing really well after they passed out of this college
Exam Structure
Exams in the first year used to be very hectic as some papers were given without even one day gap. After first year there was a gap of atleast one day after each exam. Most important way to score well in exams were to study past year's question papers
Admission
It was purely based on merit in CGPET exam. I got a rank of 881 and it helped me secure a seat in Computer Engineering at SSCET during counselling. Counselling for all the CG state colleges happened commonly and you have to select what branch and colleges, available at your rank, you want to select over there.
Faculty
Some of the faculty were really good. Such as the head of the departments were level headed. However some of the faculties was mediocre. They did not speak to students nicely. The environment of the college was more of a school than of a college where faculty used to treat and talk to students like children. Knowledge wise too some of the faculty members were very good but others were mediocre.
