Remarks
College needs to improve on faculties. They need to get more professional and experienced professors who have atleast 5 years + experience.
Entrance Preview
I did not give any exam as I was NRI and took admission in DDIT based on the equivalent certificate which I got from Delhi.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for computer engineering and for first 2 years I got to learn basics from all fields like civil, mechanical, electrical. I was feeling truly like an engineer who could do all sorts of things. Then the focus was shifted to more on computer courses like data structures, programming languages which made me think more on how computers and softwares work in real life. The practical sessions were bit disappointing due to the lack of proper infrastructure in the college and inexperienced lab professors. Hoping that it would have been taken care of now.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies like TCS, Tatvasoft and Synoverge came to DDIT and took aptitude tests and personal interviews and mostly 30-40% of the students were selected by all the MNC companies which was very good. Not sure about the stipend they gave, but it should be around 10000/- per month. One company based in AHmedaabd came for placement in our college in which I got selected after cracking the aptitude and personal interviews. It was a very fun experience
Placement Experience
Placement oppurtunities are very good in DDIT. Guaranteed 75% of the students got placements in various companies that came to campus. Top students got a chance to enter directly into the personal interview round in TCS and didnt have to give aptitude test. Many were selected in that and got placements with package of 3 Lacs +
College Events
Every year our college holds cultural and techincal festivals which includes many different activities that bring out each students skills in their own way. THousands of students participate in these acitivities each year and winning contestants get great prizes too
Fees and Financial Aid
I am not sure of that but I did opt for any scholarship neither of any loan facility offered directly by college
Campus Life
Campus life was fun. Probably the most I remember from college days is the on campus life. How students sat in the center foyer and gossiped about life, faculties, exams, girls and stuff like that is the most cherished memory from college. Gender ratio was around 60% boys and 40% girls. College had one workshop in which we attended civil subjects like engineering graphics and practical wood workshop in which we were making stools and chairs and other such carpentry stuff. Mostly our college had students from Gujarat itself. Hardly 5% of students were outside Gujarat. Our college had sports room with table tennis, badminton and tennis facilities. And we also had cricket team, tabletennis team and football team which also qualified on the inter college levels
Hostel Facilities
our university had boys and girls hostel separately. However I did not stay in hostel but instead I did up-down from AHmedabad to Nadiad in college bus. Many friends from Saurasthra stayed in hostel and the overall experience was good. Rooms were good spaced and air flow was very good. Mess was good and we get basic gujarati thali.
Alumni/Alumna
Our senior students were very helpful if they know you. Other alumni network was very good and they came and interacted with us and we were in touch with them. Overall they were very helpful in providing help when needed.
Exam Structure
In each semester, There are 3 internals of 36 marks and one external of 100 marks. So for passing the sem student had to pass in atleast 2 internals and the external. Lab exams were bit on the chill side, faculites were very helpful and nice to us in setting up the practical exams. It was very hectic through out the sem due to total 4 exams. But it was very fun and majority of the students studied on the last day. Only the top students studied right from the beginning
Admission
I was NRI and did my high school from US. I had to come to India for college back due to financial issues. I did not gave any entrance exam as I was going to take entrance based on NRI status. Then I got my equivalent certifcate from Delhi which stated that my courses taken in US were same as in India. So admission was easy and smooth based on the equivalent certificate i presented to them.
Faculty
For the starting courses, the college had kept inexperienced faculties which had less than 2 years of experience. Then after subjects in 3rd and 4th year the faculties were more experienced ones who were able to explain the subjects properly. Even the Head of Department himself took a few hard subjects like Theory of Automata and Finite Languages due to which we were able to easily learn this tough subject easily.
