Without doubt best in Geology, Geophysics, Petroleum Engg, Mining and Survey.

Entrance Preview

All Indian Entrance Test for Applied Geology, conducted each year by ISM.Geology has been my favourite topic since childhood and ISM is the best institute in Geology in all Asia continent. Also cleared JAM entrance for addmission to IIT Roorkee and IIT Kharagpur, but I prefered ISM over the IITs because of obivious reasons.

Course Curriculum Overview

Very tough curriculum but equally good faculty to train you. Almost all branches of Geology is covered viz. Petroleum Geology, Mining Geology, Geostatistics, Coal Geology, Micropaleontology, Mineralogy, Petrology, Structural Geology, Survey, Remote Sensing, Geotectonics, Geophysics, and many more. (Unlike IITs where course is relatively small)

Internships Opportunities

All major oil and gas companies in India and abroad like Royal Dutch Shell, Schlumberger, Cairn, British Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, ONGC, GAIL, GSPC, mining giants like Rio Tinto, Tisco, other companies like SAIL, Coal India and many more software companies.

Placement Experience

It used to be almost 100% in our times. We got placed in the 2nd year itself.

College Events

Srijan, Basant, Kalinga's Ganeah Puja etc. are huge in size with participation from all over India.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes many scholarship available. Depends on merit, merit cum income, oncome and caste basis.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There is nothing specific about choosing it , it's just my interest on that particular subject for which I am there .we get proper notes and tips for our exams and also some life lesson . There is only thing which I find irritating and that's the gap between the exams like seriously how can expect from us to prepare 4 subject in just 2 to 3 months

Must Read before coming to IIT ISM Dhanbad

I had secured AIR 5860 in JEE Advanced, so i had applied for all CSE, ECE, ELECTRICAL, MNC and related branches in Top IITs. For my rank, I got IIT ISM Dhanbad in the last round. I had also got IIT Kharagpur Manufacturing Science, but I choosed to go for furture rounds as i thought doing a circuit branch in IITs is better. I could not make it to colleges that i wanted to as my rank was 5860 and belonging to the GENERAL category, the rank is too high to get into top branches of the top 7 IITS. The admission process is JEE Advanced, Elgibility is that u need to have good rank in JEE Advanced, the rank required varies from branch to branch but i can give you and idea, for our IIT ISM, CSE -> 2000 to 3500, MNC -> 3500 to 4500 , ECE -> 4500 to 6000 and so on....Read More
