Remarks

The admission process was relatively straightforward and similar to the one followed by nearly all design colleges with a preliminary written test followed by task completion and a personal interview with a portfolio review. Eligibility- +2 from a recognized board with >50%. All the details regarding this process such as the forms, fees, and important dates are provided on the institute's official page.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Since I am currently in my first year, I cannot provide any info regarding the later years but as of now, each class of 30-35 students has around 2-3 teachers who provide valuable feedback. The faculty is comprised of qualified and experienced individuals who have taught in other prestigious institutions such as NID, etc. There are exams at the end of each semester consisting mainly of a panel of experts reviewing the students' work and asking them related questions.

Internships Opportunities

3

Companies such as Infosys, Autoline Industries Ltd., Cognizant, and Whirlpool have hired from this institute. Third-year students get summer internships and projects with various companies as part of their education.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students become eligible for campus placements in their 3rd year. They get summer internships and can do freelance work as well. Companies such as Infosys, Cognizant, Whirlpool, etc. recruit students from SID. The average package is around 10 LPA with the highest for this year being around 18 LPA. As of 2022, the percentage of students getting placements is 100%. As an animation student, I have various options to explore such as VFX Artist, Cartoonist, Visual Storyteller, etc. after my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The academic fee for the entire year is 4,20,000 along with a 15000 refundable security deposit and a 5000 refundable library deposit. The university has also tried up with IDBI Bank and Bank of India to offer educational loan facilities to the students. The university also offers a merit-based scholarship. Other features include summer internships, networking opportunities, and exposure.

Campus Life

4

We have our annual fest "Fundamental" held around February. Various other such fests such as Shilpkatha which focuses on traditional Indian crafts are also organized throughout the year. The library is stocked with all kinds of information books, Journals, magazines, and periodicals on a variety of design-related topics. The classrooms are spacious and colorful with proper ventilation and natural lighting. Matches and sport meet for basketball, football, badminton, etc. are held throughout the year, with tryouts being conducted every time. Various clubs and societies for music, dance, etc. conduct showcases periodically.

Hostel Facilities

4

I live in Daisy which is one of the two hostels provided to female SID students, along with Orchid located near Rohan Mithila Society in Viman Nagar lane 20. There are both 2-sharing and 3-sharing rooms, each with personal bathrooms attached along with basic furniture such as cots, shelves, and desks with soft boards provided by the hostel itself. Breakfast, Lunch, Evening snacks, and Dinner are provided but the hostel with non-veg items/desserts every alternate day. The food is good and prepared in a hygienic environment. Registration for a hostel is done after you receive a provisional admission letter from the institute and is given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Interview Experience

4

The first round was the SEED exam, an MCQ test on topics such as Current Affairs, General knowledge, Logical Reasoning, etc. Shortlisted candidates would then have to go through the second round which consisted of a task completion and a personal interview. The task would require you to use different mediums and materials to execute/illustrate your idea, while the interview would test your communication and observation skills along with your portfolio review. I prepared by watching reading yearbooks and watching different videos on topics such as famous designers, logos, buildings, etc. Both rounds were conducted online for my batch since COVID protocol was still being followed at the time.

Many companies come and give opportunities for students to get jobs and internships but it depends on how smart a student is if they want to get a proper job or anything related to it. It's pretty good and students have good opportunities.

We are allowed to find internships and work on our own amidst this Covid situation. At the end of the our last year, we have a final project through which we have to cumulate all our knowledge and based on that we get our degree and our portfolio is built. There are on campus recruiting, where many renowned companies have come for placements. There is a 100% placement record maintained by our alumni. The highest pack was bagged by a student with over 30,000 /- per month. My plans are to work in a production studio where I can work closely with designers in game production, movie production and digital design.
