Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

With the innate interest of caring and treating animals I found myself attracted to the course of veterinary science. Talking about student and teachers ration there is the class strength of 80 students and the faculty per deaprtment is around 3 to 4 variably . And total of 18 department ( 3 department in the first year 5 department in secondyear and 5 +2 departments in 3rd year and later 3 department in the 4th year and the final year is for the internship). Some of the colleges have shortage of faculty in some of the department but the overall facty to student ratio is pretty good. That ranges in about 20 :13 that is 1.538 in the decimal form . Lectures are qualified with bvsc, mvsc and phd in their particular subject of interest . Examination are conducted on the annual basis once a year but 3 internal examination are conducted . annual examination consist of 2 papers for each subject with 2 practicals. The papers are set in medium to hard level.proper preparation helps examnination

Internships Opportunities

4

After completion of 4 and half years of course . One year of internship is practiced which comprises of 3 months of enterpreneurship and in the rest of the months students they practice in clinics under the supervision of lectures. In the enterpreneurship students get some fund from the college for enterpreneurship activities like polutry rearing and selling . selling milk and meat products . Feed processing . Piggery farming and similar activities .The profit or the loss obtained will be distributed among the group of students who performed the same . In the later months internies practice in the clinics of various colleges and other institutions which come under the veterinary like zoos, piggery farms , dairy farms etc ...in the span of a week or 2 in each college or institution . The stipend for the students is provided on monthly basis which include 14000 from state government of Karnataka and 3000 from VCI . Travelling and residential expenses are from the students side only .

Placement Experience

4.5

From 5th year onwards students are eligible for campus placements .number of dairy based companies like Karnataka Co-Operative Milk Producers Federation Ltd(Nandini),Dairy Classic ICE Creams Pvt Ltd,Nakoda Dairy Pvt Ltd, etc... And other poultry based companies also provide placement opportunities for the students .package for the eligible candidates differ from the range of 50000 to 1lakh for fresh candidates without any experience . Percentage of students getting into placement is appreciable . Government veterinary officer job is most preferred.A government veterinary doctor can earn upto Rs. 50000 to 1 lakhs per month.based on the cgpa of the students who are all passed out top ranked students gets into the placements rest can try for the private sector jobs which also offers better package . Coming to my plans after getting the degree is to get into masters in the department of veterinary pathology in the Research institution in Bareilly, uttar Pradesh to perceive PhD in the same

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for the course is 57000 with 650 group health insurance in first year in first year to 47000 and 659 group health insurance in rest of the years . The fees of 47000 includes registration fee ,tution fees , laboratory fees , Library fees , sports fees , magazine fees, medical fees ,club fees, student aid fund ,tour fees , examination fees. The registration fees will be higher for the 1st year . Placement Experience:

Placements of the students studied from here can be seen in good number. As it is a professional course after the completion of the bachelor course many opt for masters. Civil service examination and other interests and some also go for placement the students after having bachelor degree can practice in private clinics and also can wait for government postings to work for. -- In the dairy sector also there is huge scope for veterinarians. -- And many will get into the wildlife sector where we can practice as the wildlife veterinarian or as the resource persons. -- We can run our own poultry farm chicken farm etc. Which are of great economical profits. The traditional way is the clinical practice which is through appointments which are usually done once in 2 or 3 years based on the empty places in the clinics. It is a good package job of around 50 to 60 thousand per month which is 7 to 8 lakh per annum. - We can see a good number of 83-87 percent of students get placement.

Good, huge campus but far away from city. There is no direct public transport. Campus life is absolutely fantastic. Beautiful rainy seasons. Gender ratio has been increasing every year and is almost 1:1. Good support by the college and staff for extracurricualr activities. College has given many university blues to the university who have also secured silver medal in icar inter university sports meet in 2015 held at bidar.
