Remarks

Good, huge campus but far away from city. There is no direct public transport. Campus life is absolutely fantastic. Beautiful rainy seasons. Gender ratio has been increasing every year and is almost 1:1. Good support by the college and staff for extracurricualr activities. College has given many university blues to the university who have also secured silver medal in icar inter university sports meet in 2015 held at bidar.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is associated with veterinary science and animal husbandry. Annual type of exams with 3 Internals and one finally exam as per MSVE 2016. College of Veterinary Science Shimoga is one of the reputed Veterinary Colleges in Karnataka. The college is popularly known as Veterinary College Shimoga and it was founded in the year 2006-07.

Placement Experience

4

1 year internship in the final year is provided. In that 6 months are in karnataka and 6 months are in out of karnataka. Internship provides a very good opportunity for the students to join and work in different places, farms, hospitals, laboratory, where they can excel.

College Events

4.5

Hostel day, college day, freshers day etc. Various cocurricular activities are also conducted. Major among them is the intercollegiate Youth festival.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

It's pretty good. But for North Indians a bit difficult to adjust for south indian food initially. Hostel is equipped with all the modern facilities required for the students like wifi, reading room, sports items, Gym, etc apart from basic facilities like Bed, chair, table, drinking water, bathrooms, solar and gysere facilities for hot water, parking space, playing ground, etc. Food is good too

Alumni/Alumna

Supportive alumni network. Alumni network is good and the group is still young with farsighted agenda. Alumni meet was held at Shivamogga college in 2016. Many of the senior students are working as Veterinary officers.

Admission

Through karnataka Common entrance exam. In order to get admission in veterinary college, you need to qualify NEET exam. And you should have physics, chemistry and biology as subject in your intermediate with an average of minimum 50% if belong to general category, and if SC/ST/OBC 40%. Your age should be 17 or above and for now there is no upper age limit. Since veterinary college hebbal is a government college a rank under 20k can get you a seat.

People think that this course is good if one don't get the MBBS seat but in my view it's wrong . Once you enter this field you'll discover vast opportunities here . For the real world application you'll start to learn from the very first day each and everyday of your degree is important because you learn the things which you'll use in the field Internals are taken every 2 to 3 months but their difficulty level is harder than the externals since it prepares you for the internals

Basically, I am an animal lover I found happiness by treating animals. The faculty was good and most of them are very experienced with min 10 years of experience and polite. They always help when students seek help from them. All faculty of almost all departments are Ph.D. holders they teach through presentations with pictures and practical's, and they give a clear-cut explanation. Exams: 3 internals per year of which best of the 2 considered and finally externals include both theory and practicals in which each department has 2 papers and it was difficult to pass some exams
