Experienced staff and location of college. Infrastructure at labs, classrooms, hostel, Book collection in the library is highest among 4 colleges in the state and shivamigga is a well connected city by roads, rails and also a tourist destination know as gateway to western ghats

Based on MSVE 2016 Syllabus prescribed By VCI. And also by assessing the compatibility of the curriculum to the current international trends, reseaches, use of modern techniques, whether on book curriculum meets the on ground realities, and future scopes

Internships Opportunities

Yes. Stipend given is more than 15000/- per month of 6 months internship period. Internship programme is scheduled such that the students get complete outlook of animal husbandry practices followed in the state of Karnataka. Internship programme is held at places viz.,Bengaluru, Bannerughatta, Dharwad, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Bidar, Mudhol, Mysuru Zoo and other Pvt Farms.

Private sector is wide open for veterinarians especially poultry and pharmavological sector. Many vacancies in Govt sector makes this course attractive. In the last 3 recruitments made by Dept of AHVS govt. Of karnataka more than 300 Gradutes from this college have been selected as Veterinary Officers.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Feasible. College Fees is less than 30000/- per year but changes are made yearly Hostel fees is based on dividend system and it amounts to less than 3000/- per boarder. Health insurance scheme is also provided incase of health complications and refunds are made

Campus Life

Campus life is absolutely fantastic . Beautiful rainy seasons. Gender ratio has been increasing every year and is almost 1:1. Good support by the college and staff for extracurricualr activities. College has given many university blues to the university who have also secured silver medal in icar inter university sports meet in 2015 held at bidar.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel is equipped with all the modern facilities required for the students like wifi, reading room, sports items, Gym, etc apart from basic facilities like Bed, chair,table, drinking water, bathrooms, solar and gysere facilities for hot water, parking space, playing ground, etc. Food is good too

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is good and the group is still young with farsighted agenda. Alumni meet was held at Shivamogga college in 2016

Exam Structure

Internal examination (practical+Theory) for 50 marks for every semester and External examination annualy for the same comprising syllabus of 2 semesters of year. And Student have to secure 50% or more of the total marks of external and internal examinations when marks of both are added seperately in practical and theory. Students who fail in 2 or less subjects will be given a chance to write exam to get through but if failed in 3 or more subjects he must repeat the year and in the 1st year if a student fails in all subjects his admission standa cancelled and A student must complete his degree in 8 yrs.

Admission

Through KCET entrance examination conducted every year by Karnataka Examination Authority. Based on Ranking in veterinary course seat will be available to the candidate through online counselling based on the preference list of the candidate. Some of the students from the agricultural background are selected through agricultural practical test.

People think that this course is good if one don't get the MBBS seat but in my view it's wrong . Once you enter this field you'll discover vast opportunities here . From 5th year onwards students are eligible for campus placements .number of dairy based companies like Karnataka Co-Operative Milk Producers Federation Ltd(Nandini),Dairy Classic ICE Creams Pvt Ltd,Nakoda Dairy Pvt Ltd, etc... And other poultry based companies also provide placement opportunities for the students .package for the eligible candidates differ from the range of 50000 to 1lakh for fresh candidates without any experience . Percentage of students getting into placement is appreciable . Government veterinary officer job is most preferred.A government veterinary doctor can earn upto Rs. 50000 to 1 lakhs per month.based on the cgpa of the students who are all passed out top ranked students gets into the placements rest can try for the private sector jobs which also offers better package . Basically, I am an animal lover I found happiness by treating animals. The faculty was good and most of them are very experienced with min 10 years of experience and polite. They always help when students seek help from them. All faculty of almost all departments are Ph.D. holders they teach through presentations with pictures and practical's, and they give a clear-cut explanation.
