An overall idea about GIET, BBSR.

Actually, JEE entrance exam was mandatory to take admission then the criteria for getting admission is you need to score 45% in PCM in the 12th Board exams. Apart from all these there are agents who help you in taking admission to this college otherwise you can contact the college administration department by visiting their website or through phone call or email

I did choose this course because I wanted to join the merchant navy and for that, I had two options whether to do B.tech in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Unfortunately, I felt short of the criteria required for Marine Engineering so I had the only option to do Mechanical Engineering. The faculty: student ratio is very good here especially since you find different facilities for different subjects in each semester neither faculty takes a couple or more subjects in a single sem. All the faculties are good here and their teaching methods are impressive as well. There are a couple of term exams per sem and it's decent neither difficult nor easy to pass, you need to have very good attendance also to score well in the term exams.

Students are eligible to sit in placements since the 7th Sem Can't be particular about the companies but many good companies like Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, HCL, Jindal etc. visit the institute and offer vast opportunities to the students. Not sure about the package as per companies usually it differs. Almost half of the students you could say 45-50% getting placements. Actually, I joined Merchant Navy after getting the degree.

The cost to study is very economical I guess as compared to other colleges the quality of teaching is also decent as I can't say it's the best rather. I belong to the general category so didn't get any scholarship though the students from economically backward or lower castes do get scholarship opportunities for sure I can say. I got the job as a production engineer but the package wasn't satisfactory so I didn't go for that.

* Annual fest- SURAVI and it is conducted at the end of academic year when exams are done so that all can fully enjoy that atmosphere, participate in the events and perform well without any stress. * Almost all books are available in the library though the no. of spares are somehow limited but I think now they must have fixed the issue. * Amenities in the classrooms are decent enough otherwise it's sufficient in the laboratories which I think more important. * Different sports like all indoor and outdoor sports are available but in our time football, tennis and table tennis wasn't there don't know about the current scenario. * Blood donation camp, plantation etc.

Fans, Beds, Tables, Chairs, Lights, Fans all basic facilities are there. Meal quality is decent, not bad. The registration process for a hostel is easy and very much affordable. I didn't rent any room though there are facilities available nearby.
