Entrance Preview
There is no particular entrance exam to get admitted to this course. Just a pass class is enough in 12th standard is the entry requirement. I had interest in computers and i didn't wanted to go for engineering. So, i chose this course.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is affiliated to Bangalore University. The curriculum is updated to the current industry requirements. We had very excellent subjects like visual basic, basic mathematics, programming and database technologies. Unfortunately there is no elective in this course. All the subjects are mandatory to study.
Internships Opportunities
Unfortunately, this college doesn't provide any internships. If a student wants to join any internships, then he/she has to look outside the campus.
Placement Experience
There are no placements for BCA students in this college. But, there will be pool campus placements in other colleges. We use to go and attend those. Some of my classmates got place in companies like TCS, Wipro and capgemini. Faculties use to inform us if there were any pool campus placements going on.
College Events
There is a freshers party called parichay which will be conducted in the month of September. Here all the newcomers can participate in events like fashion show, dance etc.. Sometimes our college was conducting departmental fests such as hackathons, quiz etc.. There is an annual day in this college which will be conducted in seminal hall. That is the most boring fest here. We didn't see much students participating in these fests.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees was pretty reasonable at our time. i.e in the year 2013. Later on when we were in our final they increased fees for newcomers which was around one lakh rupees. This was very embarrassing. Although the college has very basic amenities, we couldn't understand why these people were increasing it without no reason.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are no scholarships available for students in this college. One can take loans in any banks. There is a SBI inside the campus of this college. College doesn't offer any concession on fees.
Campus Life
The campus is huge so that the students can feel free to sit or chat anywhere. There is a big lawn at the entrance of the campus and there are sitting benches so that most of us use to sit there and spend most of our free time. There are two canteens inside the campus. There is a mixed number of boys and girls. The population of girls were very low in our college. We had 8 girls out of 20 boys in my class. There will be sports day every year, any student can participate in it and there will be prices too. Sports like throw ball, shot put, running race etc.. will be conducted.
Hostel Facilities
I didn't live in hostel but, i have visited there several times. There are rooms available both for sharing and single. The student can opt any. Single rooms are higher in price compared to shared rooms. A metal cot will be provided by the hostel management. The rooms are very small and tiny. There is no window in the rooms and not well maintained. Some rooms leak water. There is no attached bathrooms and the common bathrooms are very dirty. Coming to the food, they serve only rice and chapati with some gravy and curd. Mess is well maintained and hygienic.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni is extremely bad in this college. There is no alumnus department here. So, we didn't a chance to interact with our seniors. Although, our seniors were helpful and some of them had attitude.
Exam Structure
There were 4 labs a week. Sometimes the lecturers weren't able to conduct lab. We use to come home if there was no lab. The labs are extremely good with enough number of computers and internet connection. The lab sessions weren't that hectic. But, the faculties use to push the labs till the end of working days. This was quite disgusting.
Admission
I went directly to the college and filled out an application form by paying 500 RS. Then i paid the first year fees of Rs.75000 in the fee counter. Got the receipt. That's it.. The admission process was done. Then from August second week the classes were started. Then second year and third year fees was 45000. We had to pay the yearly fees in the month of July every year.
Faculty
Faculties were not permanent. I have seen faculties joining and resigning very frequently. Management has to look upon this. For some semesters we didn't have lecturers for quite a few subjects, we had to study on our own. Although, faculties had a good knowledge on subjects, sometimes they use to refer text books in front of us. And, all the faculties were friendly with the students.
