Remarks

Admission is through IIT-JAM. The application form is released around September and the exam occurs on the second week of Feb. application fees - 1500 rs. I was from the GEN category so I didn't avail ant Reservation Benefits. Cutoff - For GEN your rank should be under AIR - 30 for Biotechnology. No, the Admission process was up to the mark.

Course Curriculum Overview

I chose this course as my interest was in biotechnology and research. There are a total of 27 faculty in our department of Biosciences and Bioengineering and the total students in M.Sc. are 28 and M.Tech. is 25. All the faculty are the real gems of our department and will guide you really in the best way possible they have in-depth knowledge of their subject as they all are highly qualified (MIn. Post Doc and Chair Prof.). We have 2-semester exams (Mid-sem and End-sem) each Semester and there are in total 4 Semesters and the exams are more conceptual based.

Class Size: 28Course Fees: INR 38000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Various Multinational Companies and Research institutes from all across the world offers internship with a stipend ranging from 10000-500000 pm. The Institute placement cell is responsible to provide students with internship opportunities.

Placement Experience

Students become eligible for Placements in their last semesters. Nearly 1800 students get placed every year and more than 300 companies visit. The highest package is around 2 Cr and the average package is around 16 lakhs, Profiles offered are software Developers, consultancy, Logistics, and Analytics. Nearly 90% of students get placed. I plan to pursue Higher Studies Abroad.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees for my course are 19000 per sem and one has to pay 27000 as Semester mess advance each semester. Students with financial issues can avail Merit-cum-means scholarship, M.Tech. Students get a TA fellowship.

Campus Life

Asia's biggest fest MOOD INDIGO is organized in December and TECH FEST is organized in February. The library is well loaded with all the books of need and will also provide access to nearly all journals. Classes are conducted in the Lecture Hall complexes and they are well equipped with all the facilities. There is Institute Gymkhana with nearly all the facilities for all sports. The ICC institute Cultural Council is active and contains clubs of all genres.

Hostel Facilities

Hostels are world-class. students get a shared room (Double Occupancy) till they are in the first to the third year but they get a single room in the last semester. The mess food is really good and gives a balanced diet. Hostels are allowed at the start of the session by Hall managers. IIT Bombay is situated in the area of POWAI.

Placement Experience:

Placements in Fergusson are pretty good. Students are eligible for sitting in the placement drives from the 3rd semester, we also get Pre-placment activities and tests before the drive starts. We get companies like Axtria, Vois , bluepineapple etc on campus. The highest package is 10 - 12 lakhs and 4-6 lakhs on an average. In my batch out of the 30 people we 20 are placed so far on campus.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the GIPE are decent. This year the highest package offered was 18 lakhs per annum by Deloitte and IDFC FIRST Bank. Although the placements are not 100% but it's around 60%. Students need to work hard and score well in aptitude test and they should start the preparation from the second semester onwards so that they can easily manage their end semester exams as well as the aptitude test. The average placement package is around 8-9 lakhs. My plan is to get a corporate job and gain some experience and exposure in the corporate world and learn how the things actually work. Many companies that come to the college are looking for data analytics role. The ratio of the companies looking for consultant, risk analyst is less based on market demand and other circumstances.

By the end of sem3 itself, the postgraduates are deployed into interviews for certain internships. But if you are with good academic scores and knowledge you can even get directly placed. Every individual is given 3 chances by the college to get and crack the interview but if the student is not able to then he is guided to where to apply but mostly ICRI makes sure everyone is placed as the college proudly stays with its 100% placement tag line. As I told here there are varied background people here with different needs of roles, the highest package I have seen getting is 15L pa to the lowest of 3L pa which even depends upon the company to your broad spectrum of knowledge. To specify which companies come here for recruitment are sun pharma, Cipla, and many more there are all 20+ companies that come and hire the intellectuals. To specify about me I am planning to get a CRC post as a start for CRA in the future.

PG not given any campus you will get a job on your ability. We have to prepare for set net after MSc but there are some companies visited college like Wipro. They provide job but the salary is around 25000 per month.
