Remarks

Earlier admissions to BDS were through Entrance exams conducted by IP University, Delhi. But now it is via NEET-UG exams. The rank and the score in the NEET UG exam decide your admission. The admissions occur through NEET UG ALL INDIA COUNSELLING.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Dentistry combines both academics and artistic skills. So if you have an eye for esthetic dentistry can be the choice for you as it was for me. Faculty: student ratio is 1:10 All the faculty are highly experienced and have great clinical knowledge and expertise. They are MDS degree holders. Usually, lectures are conducted as PowerPoint presentations and at times blackboard teaching. Practical knowledge is gained by practicing on dummy models. Exams are conducted regularly. They are divided into four parts. The first 3 exams are conducted at an interval of 3-4 months. It includes both theoretical and practical. The last and final professional exam is conducted at the end of the session each year in the month of June or July. The checking in all the exams is strict. The minimum passing percentage is 50% in both theory and practical separately It is important to qualify in the first three exams so as to appear in the final professional exams

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Internship opportunities are given to all the students who have studied at ESIC with a monthly stipend of Rs 23000. Students from other colleges can also apply for internships at ESIC and are selected based on an interview conducted at ESIC The internship is great at ESIC due to the large patient footfall. The OPD is great for all the DEPARTMENTS.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship and financial assistance are provided based on your socioeconomic status by the government. The internship at ESIC is great with a monthly stipend of Rs. 23000 There is a bond of 7 yrs with the college given to you at the time of admission. According to this bond, jobss will be given to the students who have passed from ESIC Dental College depending on the vacancy anywhere at ESIC all around India. It doesn't mean that you will be offered a job as soon as you pass your BDS. It may take several years for you to get a job under this bond depending on the vacancy

Campus Life

3

There are no separate social groups or clubs at ESIC But every year fest " ECHOES "and sports meet is conducted At the fest, extracurricular activities are conducted and Dental colleges across Delhi NCR and a few medical colleges participate in it. sports meet is also conducted every year at a nearby ground

The course is vast and extensive but it may feel that it lacks recent information and developments in dentistry as dentistry is fast and ever evolving. The course does prepare us for future academic pursuits but does need revision to make it more relevant.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I always wanted to do MBBS.My score in neet UG was 607 but the cut off was too high so I decided to go for BDS and I wanted to do it from the top college of India and it led me to choose MAIDS. BDS is a very challenging course but at the end it pays well. Bds not only involves study about dental anatomy/histology/pathology but we also get to study about general anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology etc. So overall the curriculum is quite interesting if you are already interested in medicine. We have three exams in first year, two internals and a professional exam. The exams are quite difficult
