Earlier admissions to BDS were through Entrance exams conducted by IP University, Delhi. But now it is via NEET-UG exams. The rank and the score in the NEET UG exam decide your admission. The admissions occur through NEET UG ALL INDIA COUNSELLING.
Course Curriculum Overview
Dentistry combines both academics and artistic skills. So if you have an eye for esthetic dentistry can be the choice for you as it was for me. Faculty: student ratio is 1:10 All the faculty are highly experienced and have great clinical knowledge and expertise. They are MDS degree holders. Usually, lectures are conducted as PowerPoint presentations and at times blackboard teaching. Practical knowledge is gained by practicing on dummy models. Exams are conducted regularly. They are divided into four parts. The first 3 exams are conducted at an interval of 3-4 months. It includes both theoretical and practical. The last and final professional exam is conducted at the end of the session each year in the month of June or July. The checking in all the exams is strict. The minimum passing percentage is 50% in both theory and practical separately It is important to qualify in the first three exams so as to appear in the final professional exams
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are given to all the students who have studied at ESIC with a monthly stipend of Rs 23000. Students from other colleges can also apply for internships at ESIC and are selected based on an interview conducted at ESIC The internship is great at ESIC due to the large patient footfall. The OPD is great for all the DEPARTMENTS.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship and financial assistance are provided based on your socioeconomic status by the government. The internship at ESIC is great with a monthly stipend of Rs. 23000 There is a bond of 7 yrs with the college given to you at the time of admission. According to this bond, jobss will be given to the students who have passed from ESIC Dental College depending on the vacancy anywhere at ESIC all around India. It doesn't mean that you will be offered a job as soon as you pass your BDS. It may take several years for you to get a job under this bond depending on the vacancy
Campus Life
There are no separate social groups or clubs at ESIC But every year fest " ECHOES "and sports meet is conducted At the fest, extracurricular activities are conducted and Dental colleges across Delhi NCR and a few medical colleges participate in it. sports meet is also conducted every year at a nearby ground
