College Life at NIT Jamshedpur

Admission Process was simple. I had taken admission through JOSAA website which is done after JEE main results. For OBC student, Josaa fees is around 20000. For civil Engineering ,95 percentile is enough for OBC candidate.

I chose civil engineering because i had no other options to chose because my percentile was not good enough for higher branches. Faculty: student ratio is good. Faculties are good. Almost all faculties are PhD holders. Teaching method of faculties is average. It needs to be improved. Exams are held after every 3 months. It is not much difficult to pass the exam. But for good cgpa, students must be prepared well.

There are many internship opportunities for students. Students from 4th semester can take part in internship programs with decent stipend. Majority of opportunities are for tech students. But students should be well prepared and Should make many types of projects so that they can be selected.

Placements of this college is very good as compared to other colleges. 6th semester and above students are eligible for placements. Many companies visit the college for placements. Almost 90+ percentage of students are placed. For higher branches like cse and ece percentage of placement is approx. 100. Overall Average package of college is around 14 lakh per annum. For cse it is around 20lakh. Lowest average ctc is for civil which is around 8lakh.

Fees is quite high for me as I didn't take any fee remission or any scholarship. My fees is approx. 186000 per year. But for economically weaker students, there are scholarship programs. Students can take full, 2/3rd and one third fee remission according to there parent's income.

Campus life is average. There are many fests conducted e.g. tech fest, cultural fest etc. Library is good. Almost all college related books are present in library. Classrooms are very good. Classrooms are big enough and are air conditioned. There are sports events which are held e.g. cricket, volleyball, basketball etc. There are also many clubs in college for different types of students.

Hostel facility can be improved. Toilets are not cleaned regularly. There is LAN in our hostel but it doesn't work properly. Mess food quality is average. Registration process for hostel was simple and price was also affordable.
