Remarks

I always wanted to study media and journalism and Manipal University Jaipur came as my first preference as I didn't want to relocate and pursue the same in my hometown. I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication which is a 3-year UG course at MUJ. If I talk about the admission process and the eligibility criteria, it doesn't involve a lot of competition or any sort of special Entrance Exam. If you are applying for this UG course at MUJ then you must have passed in 10+2 from a recognized board or equivalent qualification and your admission for the same will be done on the basis of your marks obtained in the qualifying examination. All details related to the application form, application fees, and application dates are available on the college's website portal. I personally feel that a counseling faculty should be available at the time of admissions to brief a student wisely.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As I was always an enthusiastic and driven child in my school days. All those assemblies, enactments, debates, scripting, and preparations intrigued me a lot and that's how I figured that Media and Journalism are the industries that can strengthen my base for the same and that's how I landed choosing this course and MUJ offered it like a charm. The most beautiful thing about MUJ besides its campus is its friendly and helping faculty. Not just to mention but the faculty at MUJ would always be there for you, as saviors. The student ratio is somewhat equal here but women of MUJ definitely lead better. Most of the faculties here are industry experts with commendable knowledge and experience in their fields. Some Ph.D. Scholar students also turn out to be great faculty members and help in every way possible. Term exams were not very threatening, but brief and practical as the course requires fieldwork.

Internships Opportunities

4

As I applied for the internship at Dainik Bhaskar so the eligibility criteria included an application form followed by an assignment where I was supposed to write a news bulletin script and then record and present it as a news anchor, this assignment included the first step of eligibility which I passed and then came in the 2 assignment where I was given an online form link and a time of 60 minutes. That form included 40 general Knowledge MCQ questions that have to be answered in 60 minutes and after passing that I was asked to sit in an interview/ GD Round after completing all these tasks I was offered the training under Dainik Bhaskar.

Placement Experience

3

As you must be aware that the Journalism and Mass Communication course requires a lot of fieldwork and knowledge to be eligible to uphold placements and excel in your skills. The placements depend upon the number of skills you have, what all fieldwork you have, and what all are you willing to optimistically learn and put into action. Students can start interning in their respective interest fields from the 2nd year as in the 4th Semester and by the end of the 5th Semester, students become eligible for campus placements. 60% of students get placed in good production houses or marketing and advertising firms as per their capabilities and some of the renowned production houses that come for placements are Dainik Bhaskar, Byjus, Rajasthan Patrika, Fist India TV, etc. I did sit for placements and was offered an internship training at Dainik Bhaskar as a content writer with a stipend of Rs. 30,000 and a permanent job after completion of training but I refused it as I wanted to do Masters.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

If you consider pursuing your Under Graduate in Journalism and Mass Communication from Muj then the course would be for the duration of 3 months with fees of Rs. 2,82,500 including a caution deposit of Rs. 10,000 (which is refundable). MUJ offers up to 100% scholarship on the basis of merit cum means basis. Following are some scholarships and financial assistance that MUJ has to offer: 1. TMA Merit Scholarships 2. Rajasthan Merit Scholarships 3. Preferential Seats for local students, which include: - Scholarship for differently ables students, wards of a single mother and orphan child, sports person, for attending national and international conferences. In terms of scholarship and financial assistance, MUJ has a lot to offer to serve the students. If I talk about my job then I did sit for placements and got selected to intern at Dainik Bhaskar as a content writer, but I didn't go for the job as I wanted to pursue my master's further.

Campus Life

4

MUJ hosts the biggest college cultural fest of Jaipur and that's called Onerois with grand teams, work, efforts, and students participating and a music night with celebrity performances to wrap it up. Onerois is conducted in October whereas, MUJ also hosts a sports fest called Abhivarta for all the sporty geeks. The social life that MUJ has to offer is commendable, with plenty of clubs, be it dance, acting, robotics, music, or literature club, you will get a lot on your plate to choose from. Most of the clubs at MUJ are being run by students for the students. Talking about the library, MUJ has two grand libraries on campus, with a lot of good reads to offer. From basic knowledge books to specialized and limited editions, MUJ will offer you a bundle of great knowledge to grasp. It offers all the basic and luxury necessities to students with amazing infrastructure from fully AC accommodated classrooms and labs with top-quality pieces of equipment.

Other Applied Colleges

Amity University | Bachelors of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication

Because of the distance and campus life, Amity University was far way far from where I lived.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The designed syllabus is too good. It creates the balance in our study. We take practical knowledge there. There are some equipment which we can use for real world knowledge. They can improve in graphics & video editing structures.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum we follow is quite basic and easy to understand. We usually complete our syllabus prior to the exam period as it leaves the time for revisions and extra practise. The teaching methods should be more practical according to our course though.

College does offer campus placements as far as I know rest depends on you weather you want to sit for on campus placements or not. Companies like Microsoft , Amazon, TCS , Mahindra , Zee news, aaj tak do visit the college for placements. Around 60 percent of the students get placed . From 5 semester they become eligible for placements

From 3rd year. The students get plenty of offers for the campus placements. The average package is 6 LPA. About 55% of students getting placements in the one go. I am going to be a writer and create my own youtube channel and work as an anchor to fulfil my own dream.
