Thiagarajar College of Engineering, a small review

The admission process for me was done through TNEA Counselling, which is a Government conducted counselling based on cutoff marks. The fees through this counselling are very low compared to the Merit Management Quota(MMQ) Counselling conducted by the college. The fee is almost double in MMQ. For MMQ, we can find the application at www.tce.edu it comes after the publication of the 12th Mark and the application costs around 500rs

The internal exams known as Continuous Assessment Tests are conducted monthly and Semester exams at the end of the Semester. The exams require more Understand and Apply level than the Remembering level. So if you are good at Applying and Understanding the concepts, the exams will be relatively easy

During the third year, students prepare for internships by attending placement training classes and many companies visit here and hire them for six month internships. The stipend is around 10-20k on average. Even the already placed seniors help juniors in their placement classes

From the 6th(3rd year) semester, MNCs visit our campus for hiring students for permanent placements or internships. The average package here is around 4.5 Lakhs and the highest packages can go around 20-25 lakhs. Almost every student gets placed in our department except for the ones who choose higher studies or go for other Government jobs. Even big MNCs like Amazon, Microsoft and Zoho visit here to hiring

The fee structure comprises of Tuition fees around 80k for counselling students. And 1.5Lakhs for Management Quota. The exam fee for every semester is around 3k. The hostel fee ranges from 60-80k. We can avail of scholarships from Government and it will be intimated by the college.

The campus life is good for an Engineering college. There are not many restrictions here. But hostel girls are not allowed to go out after 8.30 pm. "Kalai Charal" which is the annual cultural event is held in college in Even semesters. The library has a huge collection of books and can be used by anyone with a TCE ID card. There are Inter department sports competitions held every year in Even semesters. There are a lot of clubs in TCE like Dance, Singing, Arts, Chess, Quiz, Entrepreneur clubs, etc
