Honest Review of NIT Jamshedpur

For admission to this college and many more like this NTA conducts JEE Main paper every year. This paper consists of three sections namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with equal waitage of 25 questions. The exam is conducted in two phases and results are calculated on percentile basis. Then online counseling by JOSAA and CSAB and finally college is alloted to you on the basis of your preference order and your JEE rank.

I took Production and Industrial engineering at NIT Jamshedpur because the percentage placements was 87% and average package 8.32 lpa far better than other NIT's. This year (2022) the percentage placements increased to 97.25 % with average package of 10.12 lpa. The entire faculty team are PhD scholar with atleast 12 faculty of each department.

Honestly speaking the intership opportunities are less compared to top NIT's . 50- 60% students get internship offers at the end of 4th semester and beginning of 5th semester. The stipend for core branches is not more than 20,000 per month while in CS and ECE the shoots upto 1,00,000.

The students are eligible for placements from 6th semester and all tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Flipkart come for placements. There are 7 branches except Civil every branch has more than 95% placements. In 2021 the highest placement is of 57 lpa and 54 students got more than 30 lpa package.

The institute charges Rs 62,500 tuition fees and Rs 32,000 ( Hostel+Mess) charges which amounts to Rs 104000. For ST/ST students of Jharkhand E-Kalyan scholarship is provided by the government of Jharkhand. The Institute hikes fees very rarely. At the end of 3rd year atleast 60% students get internship offers with handsome stipend.

The campus size of NIT Jamshedpur is of 320 acres with most of the part covered in greens. The new academic building build in 2019 is full of all advanced facilities. The sports fest Urja and the cult fest Ojass is said to be one of the largest fest of North India. The are many clubs like Invicta, NSS, UBA, Faces, Phocas etc.

First year students are allotted Hostel I with double sharing rooms there after from second year everyone is allotted single rooms. The first year hostel is attached to mess and for subsequent years Aanpurna mega mess is there with a capacity of 4000 students. The food quality is quite decent where vegetarian and non- vegetarian food is served.
