Remarks

IITs are famous for technical and science courses and pursuing a doctorate from these institutions can be very fruitful for a student. To get admission into a Ph.D. course in the field of engineering, you must have a B.Tech/ M.Tech / MSc with a valid GATE / UGC score. Admission charges are Rs. 5900. I applied for the course online along with the submission of the research proposal and the methodology to be used.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum of a Ph.D. course can never stay fixed. The research part is updated every year according to the need and the trend. For the first year, we were taught the concept of how research is conducted and what is required for the same. I learned a lot while doing the literature review and collecting the data for the research. My guide was also very nice and coordinating. He helped me a lot in the entire research process.

Placement Experience

5

There were very less Ph.D. students who went for corporate jobs after completing the course. Most of them opted to work in research facilities government institutions. The highest CTC of the placement week, in general, went to Rs. 56 LPA. Both domestic and international companies participated in this week. Some of them were Goldman Sachs, GE India, Amazon, Honeywell, Adobe, Vedanta, GAIL, CDAC, TRAI, REC, and Tata Steel.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

Rs. 65500 is the total fee for the course including the tuition fee and other charges. Hostel and mess charges are separate for the year. There are a variety of scholarships available for the students in this section. Details of all the scholarships with the eligibility criteria and the reward part are put up on the site of the institute. Separate forms are needed to be filled for these. Make you fill them out along with the application for the course.

Campus Life

5

These three years of my life were very hectic, full of hustle-bustle but worth it in the end when I received my doctorate. Most of my time was spent in research labs and analyzing the data collected. I attended very few events and fests of the institute. The infrastructure of the campus is very good. Our research labs had all the latest equipment and the tech devices we used to the full extent.

Curriculum here is very hectic based on the earlier methods of terms by NIT and IITs across India. This needs to change with each year since the format of learning and comprehensive education is developing.

Placement Experience:

For the Ph.D. student, there is not any campus selection. After completion of Ph.D. course, I will join the college for teaching purposes. If I will write or published 2 or 3 national papers during my PhD then it will be very helpful for my future plan.
