Remarks
There used to be an entrance exam for each and every course in SXC but due to covid situations, admission takes place on a merit basis. Basic eligibility for Economics was 50% aggregate in 12th and 50% in Mathematics. All the details regarding admission are available on the college's website i.e. sxcran.org The forms are made available after the release of the 12th Boards results. There is also reserved for the Christian community in the college. Overall the process of admission is quite convenient and easy.
Course Curriculum Overview
I always had a special interest in Economics and this interest rose due to the inclusion of Mathematics in it. Whenever I heard about the Budget session it would get me curious. So, I opted for this course. In Economics UG there are 140 students, 70 each in Day and Evening. For 140 students there are 9 teachers which is quite good. Most of the faculties were PhD qualified. The teaching method was very adaptive for every student. It included both blackboard teaching as well as smartboard teaching. The term exams were conducted timely even in covid situations. When other colleges are conducting exams for Semester 3 and Semester 4 for session 2019-22 our college is conducting Semester 5 exams. It was not difficult to pass for regular students who paid attention in class.
Internships Opportunities
Various companies like Kotak Mahindra, Pocket INC, NTPC, CCL, etc. offer internships and roles like Campus Ambassador etc. They offer LOR and stipends based on performance. I got 5000 + goodies worth 2000 from Pocket INC during 6 months internship.
Placement Experience
There are various companies like TCS, Accenture, Deloitte, Cognizant, DexConnect, Learn365, Byjus, Kotak Mahindra etc which offer placements for final year students of UG and PG. Various students bag IIM seats too.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for UG Economics is approx 25000 per year which has to be paid annually. The semester exam fee is 600 which has to be paid before the end semester exams. The scholarships and financial assistance are for economically weaker sections.
Campus Life
The annual fest is conducted every tear in the month of February or March. There are various books for every department in the library. Almost all newspapers and magazines are available in the Central Library where you can study any time you want. The classroom is well equipped with LEDs, Fans and smartboards. There are various sports competitions conducted regularly. There are a number of organisations like Rotaract, NSS, NCC, AICUF etc.
Other Applied Colleges
Gossner College, Ranchi | B. A. Economics (Hons.)
I didn't oot for this college because of lack of infrastructure and low ranking in nirf.
