Remarks

NIT Jamshedpur has improved it's infrastructure considerably in the last 2 years, the New Academic Building is under top 50 Asia's biggest buildings. The placements has always been decent here, and each I have seen increase in the mean and median salaries of all branches. Moreover, there is less stress on academics, classes are flexible. Boys get a personal room starting from the second year itself; During the first year, one room is shared by two individual. The Mess Food is not very good but comparative to other NITs and IITs, it's way better, though this accounts for high mess charges around INR 16500.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, is a bit more strict compared to other departments. Teachers are post graduates/PhDs from IITs, NITs or foreign institutions. They know, they there subject well. The Teaching methods of almost all teachers can be considered obsolete, the lectures do get boring, if the subject doesn't interests you. The exams are always on time according to the academic that is given at the beginning of the academic year. The exams are relatively easy to score, if you have notes of your friends who went to class everyday. All the questions are mostly form what the teacher has taught in class.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

I have been working in Mentor Graphics as a Deep Learning Intern, with a lump-sum stipend of 40k/month. Companies like Amazon, Nvidia, Arcesium, Samsung, Groww and other reputed brands over internships to students in their third year with stipends as high as 100k/month. Also, students interested in research can work under professors, on a projects in the department labs as well.

Placement Experience

4.5

The Placement Statics are improving each year by leaps and bounds. Students are eligible for placements from the 7th Semester itself. For paid-internships students in the 8th Semester are allowed to do intern. Also in the 3rd year, companies visit for 2-4 month internships that are to be completed in the summer break.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is a 2/3rd remission in the tuition fees for students whose parental income is less than 5 LPA, and for those having family income less than 1LPA, the entire tuition fee is remitted. There is no fee hike in the entire curriculum of 4 years, the fee always remains the same.

Campus Life

4.5

Life is relaxed at NIT Jamshedpur. The annual tech fest is called OJASS, The festival marks three days of absolute vigor and ecstatic participation of students from various parts of the country in over sixty technical, management, quizzing and gaming events with prize money worth up to whopping _ 1.2 million. There is huge Central library inside the Campus, where you can issue 5 books on your name at the same time. Classrooms are high end, Air-conditioned halls, with speakers and presentation boards. The Cultural Fest is called Culfest, it is also a 3 day event, where all types of cultural events happen, from celebrity performances to many other things. Coming to Sports, there are 2 Indoor-Badmintion Court, 10-Table Tennis Court, 2 Tennis Court, 3 Basket Ball Courts, Hockey Court, Cricket Downs, VolleyBall and FootBall Grounds.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostels are mandatory, one has to opt for a hostel. The Hostel Facility is great, the Mess Food though not very good, but when compared to other NITs, IITs it's better, this a bit higher Mess and Hostel Fee of INR 16500. The cuisines offered are mostly North-Indian. The Registration Process for hostel is seamless, one is just required to submit a copy of Aadhar card with a Xerox of there College ID. No renting is required, Each Academic Year has it's own 7 Storey Hostel, where there are enough rooms to accomodate more than 700 students, which is more than an academic year's number of students.

Admission

No, the admission is solely on the basis of the JEE main CRL rank. The Branch you are offered under JOSSA, is what you will get at the campus. There is though a chance of Branch change in the second year, if there are vacancies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum exam ready for students of mechanical engineering it focuses on industrial level exposure and for other competitive exams like gate and IES with good faculty who teaches almost all concepts. There are labs for each subject in which we get real world application knowledge. Also course is updated regularly as per the requirement of industry . The course can we improved by making course more practical rather than a writing all things on practical it should include project for students. Frequency of exam is that in every 15 days there is a exam with moderate to difficult level.

Placement Experience:

At BIT Mesra third is like full of practice for placements and final year more of placements activities than studies. So, when all these things are in order placements obviously will be more or less certain and here they are certain only with almost 90% students are places through campus with annual placements of 8-10 lakhs per annum.

At BIT Mesra for our departments many cpre companies like Tatva Chintan, Laxmi Organics and Kanoria Chemicals were among some listed companies that came for placements. Luckily we are less in numbers and therefore 90% students from our batch were placed from here. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue masters from US.
