SIDTM: A GREAT COLLEGE FOR TELECOM RESEARCH

The admission process was great and simple. The dreaded pandemic caused the SIDTM institute to conduct the process in online mode. SNAP or known as Symbiosis National Aptitude Test which is conducted by Symbiosis International. It is an all India Management exam which is completely objective based test. It is a one hour test comprising of subjects English Language, Mathematics and Logical Reasoning. You can give SNAP exam twice and the best of 2 can be send to the choice of college you have chosen. You can find the form at the SNAP website with a fee of Rs. 1950/-. The eligiblity for this course is 50% in Graduation from any stream and a valid SNAP score of 70-80 percentile. If one fulfils the above requirements with a valid SNAP score, then one gets shortlisted for the GE-PIWAT round which contains a Written Aptitude Test that will be held on an online portal, a Group Discussion and a Personal Interview that will be held online.

SIDTM is famously known to have a blend of both Telecommunications and Management and it offers 3 great specializations to choose from which is Marketing, Analytics and Systems. You also get certification courses such as IBM, Lean Sigma, Six Sigma, UiPath, as this helps in future industry requirements. I had taken this course because I come from an engineering background and would like to study further in the Telecom sector and explore the blend of managment and telecom in industries. The term end exams are fairly simple and easy provided you revise the materials the professors have taught you during class. Faculty is well qualified with most holding PHDs and also qualified with NET. Faculty uses smart boards, visual graphics and simulaton software to help students understand concepts easily. Faculty to Student Ratio is 8:1. Faculty comes from backgrounds mostly from Accountancy, Mathematics and Pure Sciences.

Internships are available from first semester starting from September and continuing till April. The roles offered are Pre-Sales, Marketing research intern, Junior Strategy Intern and Growth Intern. The highest stipend offered is Rs. 1,60,000 and the average is Rs. 58,000. Projects and tasks varies from role to role and company to company

From 2nd Year you are eligibile for campus placements. Various companies visit the campus such as Deloitte, AT&T, TATA, Adani Group, etc. SIDTM has record placement of 100% placement with 29LPA highest and average 15.7LPA. Top 100 students recieve 10.10 LPA. The roles offered are Analyst, Consultant, Strategic Manager, Business Development Associate, etc.

Fees have to paid in total in 4 installments. Twice during 1st year and twice during 2nd year. Fee structure includes, Academic Fees, Hostel Deposit, Institutional Deposit and Mess. Fees is 6.5 lakhs per year. They can be increased to 10% depending on government and university guidelines. If one has high marks in Semester, minimum of 7.5 CGPA or is the Semester topper one can avail merit scholarship which is 50% of academic fees. Low income groups can avail Financial assistance provided they have the vaild documents showing their income group. SIDTM has 100% placement record with packages offering upto 29LPA and average 15.7LPA.

Campus is very big and so is the fun around being in campus. There are various student driven clubs and committees and joining them would add a great value to your Resume. The committees and clubs are: Finance Club, Branding Committee, Festival Committee, Marketing Club, Academics Committee, etc. Various celebrations and festivals are conducted such as Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc. There is also a Sports Committee that conducts sports festival and games competitions. Classrooms are neat and clean with upgraded smart boards, air-conditioned, hi-tech computer labs. There is a central Library of SIU (Symbiosis International University) which contains newspapers, books and journals of over 100 subjects and genres. It also has an Online Portal containing ebooks, magazines, articles and research papers. SIDTM has an instagram, twitter and facebook account that is completely maintained by students for giving regular updates

Hostel fees is 1,00,000 per year. It is a campus residential place. There is single-room occupancy, double-room and triple-room occupancy respectively. One is not given a choice of room during the First Year, as the college randomly allots a room based on their roll number, however during the Second Year, one is given a choice depending on their level of comfort. LAN cables are there in every hostel room for high speed Internet. Mess food is tasty and delicious and caters to everyone's different cultures, taste and diet.

After getting shortlisted by SIDTM, one has to go thorugh 3 rounds that is Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. In the Written Ability Test, one has to write ONE topic out of 7 topics on an online portal with a time duration of 30 minutes. Study current affairs, keep updated with latest policy reports and practice writing essays to excel at this round. The second round is the group exercise round where there are 8 to 9 members in a group and individually everyone is given around 1 minute to speak on a given topic or a scenario and put their ideas quickly during the discussion or debate. Read static general knowledge, study current affairs regularly and practice speaking out loud everyday. The last round is the Personal Interview where a 4 panel of SIDTM faculty members will judge on you individual skills and talents and your overall personality. Be confident, calm and cheerful to score high here.
