Remarks
The admission process was smooth and hassle-free. Due to the pandemic, the admission process for SIDTM was conducted completely in online mode. The entrance exam that is used to shortlist students for admission in SIDTM is Symbiosis National Aptitude Test commonly known as SNAP. SNAP is an all-India MBA entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International University It is a 60 minutes objective exam testing your knowledge in English, Maths and Reasoning. SNAP can be given upto two times and the best score out of the two can be shared with college you have applied Application form for SNAP can be found from official website of SNAP. The application fee is Rs. 1950/-. Minimum eligibility requirements for admission in SIDTM is 50 % in Graduation from any stream and a valid SNAP score of 78 percentile. Fulfillment of the above requirements leads to one getting shortlisted for GE-PIWAT round. For WAT one has to write and essay in an online portal GEPI was conducted online in ZOOM.
Course Curriculum Overview
Symbiosis Institute of Digital and Telecom Management offers a blend of Telecommunications and Marketing Domain, whereby it offers 3 specializations to choose from: Systems and Finance, Analytics and Finance, Marketing and Finance. SIDTM offers free certification courses like Six Sigma, IBM, Uipath in order to cater to the current technological changes in industries. I chose this course as I have an Electronics background, and therefore I would like to utilize my background in the area of Telecom Management that will enable me to explore new Telecom technologies and learn the essential marketing skills to promote different technological products Student to faculty ratio is 8:1. Faculty come from various backgrounds such as Chartered Accountancy, Engineering, Commerce and Pure Science. Nearly all of the faculty members have PHDs some even have post-doctoral degrees. As the teaching mode is online, faculty uses visual graphics and animation to teach students interactively.
Internships Opportunities
The companies offer roles of Marketing Analyst, Growth Analysts, Risk Consultants, Technology Consultants, Sales Analyst etc. The companies mostly come from IT and Consulting fields such as EY, VOIS, Coee, Deloite, etc. Most internships also offer PPOs if performed well during the internship. The Internship hiring period begins from September of 1st Semester to April of 2nd Semester. June to August is the time to be in the internship with the company. The highest stipend offered was Rs. 1,60,000 and average was Rs. 57,000.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placements during the beginning of the 2nd year although if during the 1st year internship process they recieve a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) from the company they interned with, they are eligbile for that too. The list of companies include: Accenture, Vodafone, Reliance Jio, A&T, MathWorks, EY, etc. The roles they offer are Consulting, Pre-Sales, Marketing, Data Analyst, IT, Sales,etc. SIDTM has a record of 100% placement with a highest package of 29 LPA and average package 15.7 LPA. The median is 13 LPA. Top 70 students recieved a package of 10 LPA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees have to be paid in 4 installments. 2 installments in the 1st year and the rest 2 installments in the 2nd year. The breakdown of the fee structure includes: Academic fees, Institute Deposit, Hostel Deposit (for triple sharing) and Mess Fees. The fees per year is approximately 6.5 lakhs per annum. Hostel and Mess fees can be increased to 10 % each year. International students have to pay in USD equivalent to INR. Scholarships can be revised each year subject to university guidelines. Semester topper with a minimum CGPA of 7.50 can be eligible for 50% merit scholarship from academic fee. However if two students get the same CGPA then marks of 10th, 12th and Graduation will be taken into account. SIDTM has a record of 100% placement each year with packages offering upto 29 LPA and average 15.7 LPA.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is filled with fun and frolic as there are numerous activities that are conducted by various clubs and societies to develop all-rounder capability of the student to handle both academics and extra-curricular activities. There is a Central Symbiosis International Library that offers books for more than 150 subjects and fields. There is also an Open Source Catalogue which stores e-books, journals, magazines, newspapers that can be available with just one click. Classrooms have WIFI, there are smart boards for interactive learning, and IBM business analytics lab for relevant software training. There are clubs and societies such as Fest Committee, Branding Committee, Web and Tech Committee, Academics Committee, Sports Committee and E-Cell. An instagram page is run by the students to give updates of various activities and cultural events.
Hostel Facilities
There is single room, double sharing and triple sharing facilities of hostel rooms. During First Year no choice is given for selecting a particular facility, however during the 2nd year one is offered a choice between the facilities. Hostel fee in 1,00,000 per year, which can be increased by 10% each year subject to University and Government norms Registration to Hostel rooms is based on a random allotment by the college where you will have to double share or triple share depending on the availability. There is LAN connector in the room for access to WIFI. Meal is provided by the Mess. The food quality is satisfactory provided you are accustomed to different varities of food menus. There is Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner which is provided by the Mess.
Interview Experience
Post shortlisting by SIDTM on the basis of your SNAP score, one has to go through a Written Ability Test, Group Discussion and Personal Interview in order to provisionally secure admission in SIDTM. As the process was conducted online, the Written Ability Test was held on an online writing portal where one is given a list of 6 topics to choose from. You have to write on any ONE topic and the time limit for the Written Test is 30 mins. After the Written Ability Test, one has to participate in Group Discussion Activity where topics could be thrown at random on current affairs, static GK or any hypothetical scenario. One needs to be updated with news and facts, and use critical thinking skills and team work to solve any scenario given during the discussion. After the Group Discussion, comes the final round which is Personal Interview. There will be a panel of 3-4 faculty members of SIDTM who will ask questions related to your academics and hobbies. One has to be confident and honest.
