SIDTM: Perfect Blend of Telecom/ Technology and Management

Great College for somebody who wants to understand Technology and Management in detail. It is a place where you can actually understand how technology is changing and making things easier for everyone.

The Curriculum for both the streams (I.e.Marketing and Systems) was almost similar, there was a minor change with respect to subjects such as Routing protocol which was for systems, and Marketing had Brand Management. Now SIDTM has 3 streams and the latest stream is Analytics and Finance. This is a very promising stream and has great prospects. The placement for the first batch was a great success and the college has received a lot of appreciation from Industry.

The college has a 100% placement record and it has all the reports posted online. All the figures and Companies mentioned in the report are 100% correct. SIDTM has great relations with Industrial Leaders as most of them have studied from here only. In terms of internships, SIDTM is fully capable of getting a large number of companies for summer internships. There have been companies from all domains such as Consultancies, Accounting Firms, OEMs, Telecom Companies, IT/ITeS, etc. The stipend is also offered by most organizations.

Aaramb- first event in the Academic Calendar, celebrated by all the colleges on Hill-top, Lavale Campus. Conxion- It was an HR conclave event. Most probably it is removed now. Communique- It is the Flagship event of SIDTM where Prevision ( Annual Forecasting Magazine) is released. Industry Leaders, SMEs, Government Officials are invited to discuss the current trends of Industry, where we are heading towards and then there is student interaction. Sparsh- It is a committee that does multiple events throughout the year to get donations for underprivileged children.Grudge- It is the last event in Academic Calendar, where teams are formed via Auction( IPL style). There are sports like Badminton, Basketball, Football, Cricket, TT and some surprise sports. It is and a great event for the passing by batch.

The fees Structure is divided into 4 installments. It is a bit expensive but the brand that symbiosis offers is unmatched by others in this price bracket. Plus, it is a residential campus having all the facilities from Hostel, Medical Care, Recreational facilities, Mess, Amphitheatre, etc. So price is somewhat justified.

Scholarships are given to toppers of the program, it is yearly basis. There are loan facilities but I have not taken any from College and have no knowledge about specifics. Also, there is an award for excellence in all fields such as sports, studies, participating in all events- sort of student of the year thing.

There is a Basketball court, Badminton court, Football field, Cricket ground, Volleyball ground, indoor sports such as Pool, Table Tennis, carom. There is a swimming pool also.SIDTM has a special lab for IBM cognos program.

Hostel rates vary every year and it is different for 2 sharing and 4 sharing.3 sharing is available in the new hostel only. Hostel allotments are purely done by administrators for 1st-year students so nobody has a choice for opting into a specific room sharing option. Anyway, all the rooms are equally great and there are really 0 cons to having any of the rooms. For Girls hostel, there is the option of 2 and 3 sharing only.

Alumni Network is very supportive and has tremendous reach. There is a good footfall in all the alumni meets, you can reach out to any alumni from any previous batch, they will help you to the best of their capabilities. Seniors are helpful and provide correct information about all the situations.

I appeared for an entrance exam called SNAP in 2015. That time it was the paper-based exam. After the exam based on the cut-off of your applied college, you will get called for GD/GE and PI. All Management colleges of Symbiosis International University have a common entrance exam of SNAP. After Snap based on your score, you get a call from college for further rounds. In 2016, SIDTM was SITM and had 2 streams only. Initially, on the day of your interview, you have to carry all your mark sheets and another list of documents that are verified, and simultaneously you will be divided into groups for GD. After GD there is a PI round. And there is an essay writing round that takes place in between or in the starting based on your time slot. After all the processes, you will get the final selection letter in a month. There are waitlists also, but generally, these lists don't move a lot, as very few people reject the selection letter.

Most of the Faculties are veterans of their Domain and have great knowledge about their subjects. It is extremely easy for a non-technical person to grasp Telecom concepts because of the Faculties only. The same is the case for financial subjects to Engineers. The Director himself is a CA and teaches Financial Subjects to 2nd-year students.
