I got admission to SRM after taking the SRMEEE back in 2010. I don't quite remember the score but my rank was somewhere around 5500. After counselling I got a seat in the Ramapuram campus. My interest was to study Mechanical Engineering which was not available at Kattankulathur hence I opted for Ramapuram.

When you consider that this is a graduation course, you need to remember that there cannot be much scope for research since the students are ill-equipped to have such thoughts. However, the curriculum is well suited to meet the current industry needs which is important for having a good a successful engineering career.

No internship at graduation level. You need to take part in two industrial training programs but all arrangement needs to be done by the students themselves. I would advise candidates in the second year and third year to seek help from their seniors/batchmates regarding this.

Placements at SRM have always been of the highest order. In our year, 80% of students were placed within a couple of months of start of the placement season while another 15% got placed by the time the placements came to an end. The rest 5% were either ineligible or opted out.

There were plenty of events on campus - technical as well as cultural - but I don't remember their names. Participation was good and students from other colleges also joined in. The events may have changed down the years but there is never any shortage of fun on campus.

This is something the candidate needs to decide. In my time it was a little on the expensive side if you were to compare with the fee structure in government colleges. However, the return on investment is good and should not be a big deal to recoup the investment. No idea what has happened in recent years. The college website is a good place to get the necessary information.

Once again it has been very long so I don't remember the exact procedure I followed for getting the form. I believe the procedure may have changed today so I would request interested candidates to study the college website for more details. It was a smooth process overall and I don't recollect facing any issues with the entire admission process.

Standard of faculty in the institute was good but not great. Not every topic was always covered in great detail but then, that is an issue of almost every engineering college in the country. Unless students show interest from their end, faculty will never explain anything in great detail out of their own initiative.
