Remarks

On the counselling day they provided every detail related to the course and also asked if I was sure about it. They asked me if it was my choice or out of peer/ parental pressure. I opted the course because of my personal interest so I was not confused. The professor gave me details about other courses as well in case if I decide to change my mind.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

BSc Psychology was a dream course for me as I wanted to get into mental health professional Most of the colleges in and around Mangalore provides BA psychology but since I am from a Science background opting for BA seemed like a tough choice as I had zero basics from an art background. But this was the only college that provided BSc in Psychology. The course had triple major Chemistry Botany Psychology. Most of the faculties are highly qualified and experienced. Even the young professors are good at the job and always encourage interactive classes. They divide students under a Professor(Mentor) so when the student under certain mentors have any problem related to academic or personal life they can report it to their respective mentor. Students are given the opportunity to do teacher appraisals every semester. Students were allowed to provide valuable feedback. Exams were done from time to time and sufficient time was given for revision. Most of the questions were chosen based on their importance

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Colleges provide accessibility to internships. They contact several NGO's hospitals for the internship. But students are supposed to pay for the internships and we don't get the stipend. Student Research Project is a mini dissertation that provides a glimpse of how research works professors are our guides to the SRP. Students are divided into groups for the SRP.

Placement Experience

4.5

From the 6th semester, students become eligible for placements Quite a number of companies like Infosys, Cognizant has visited. Most of the students who have no plans for masters go for the campus interviews and get placed. I opted for Masters.

Fees and Financial Aid

To be honest, SDM provides the cheap and best education to all students. They have the best fee structures. There was a slight deduction in fee structure for female students. Every now and then when a scholarship is announced it is posted on the notice board in coloured paper so it can be highlighted in the middle of other notices and students can easily get their attention to the scholarship related notices.

Campus Life

5

Each department has its fest every year. Most of the fest takes place in the even semester. The entire college will be in fest mode. The college has a vast library with a variety of books. Library hours are compulsory here so that students can spend time with books. All model instruments for the visual learning experience is available. A separate hostel for students who excel in sports is provided for free. Students have a great opportunity for an extra curriculum. Drama dance sports is given equal opportunity just like academics Students can get free access to arts and sports here. NSS, NCC is a major part of the college. The infrastructure and campus are beautiful.

Hostel Facilities

3

We were provided with 4 beds plus an attached bathroom. The hostel was neat and spacious. The food at the hostel was not up to the mark though it might be healthy (not sure) it was not tasty. The hostel was affordable but they hike hostel fees every year so not sure about the current fees ranges from 20k-30k.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible from the 5th semester. The university also conducts placement drives and skill development workshops. Out of the various companies, some of the reputed ones include Goldman Sachs, KPMG, EY, Deloitte, De Shaw, etc. The average package is around 7 to 8 lakhs but 60% students opt out from placements for further education. I plan to study a master's degree in business economics after my undergraduate studies.

Most of the students after completing four years, continue to stay here to get Masters degree after one more year and pursue PhD from world renowned institutions. Very few people (<7/100) per batch will sit for campus placements and most of them will be selected with a good annual package of 30000 at an average. Some students, mostly Physocs majors can give government exams like ICRB, GATE to join ISRO and BARC as scientists
