Remarks
Following my MAH-CET scores, I have applied to PCE and got selected during the CAP rounds. I also got accepted in Lokmanya Tilak College of Engineering however, the curriculum of PCE and its value is perceived as greater by me. Hence, I decided to go to Pillai College of Engineering. I didn't apply through any quota and got through in the GENERAL category. During the CAP rounds stages, the minimum marks were limited to 60 in MAH-CET but there was no age bar. The admission process was really smooth with proper instructions and guidance on every aspect of the admissions. There were volunteer college staff who would help if you have any queries with anything. Overall, The admission process was a smooth one.
Course Curriculum Overview
I got selected for this course through the CAP rounds. The faculty-to-student ratio is good. On average, a faculty have to handle 30-35 students. Also, the staff has a varying degree of qualifications. Some faculty completed their BTech and were assistant Teachers while most have completed their Mtech and even Ph.D. degrees in their respective fields. The term exams are timely according to the Mumbai University guidelines but this might change as the College has gained Autonomy this year.
Internships Opportunities
The Internship opportunities were limited, however, students do get good internships projects to learn from. Companies like NEO, Unacademy, Indian Railways, BSNL provided internships on the campus. Most internships were related to the courses which was a good thing.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester itself. Students have to maintain over 60% to be eligible for placement for most companies. However students with less percentage will get placement opportunities, it will be fewer. Overall, 80% of students approximately got placed and could be better. Maybe affected due to the Pandemic in India. The highest salary touched was 10 lakhs while the average was 3.5 lakhs per annum. MNCs like TCS, L&T, Capgemini, Jio visited the campuses and offered over 200 offers combined. I will be pursuing a Masters further after a couple of years of job experience.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee hikes each year till 3rd year but decreases in the 4th year comparatively. There is a significant hike each year for newer students than their last batch. There are different Scholarships students can apply for. Government scholarships are valid and teachers encourage students to take the scholarships. These will help the students during these 4 years. There are good placement opportunities with the highest packages going up to 10 lakhs per annum. The average placement students get is around 3-4 lakhs per annum. There is a good amount of CS and IT jobs available at campus hence other engineering courses like Mechanical, Electronics, Automobile also has to apply to secure a job. Core jobs are few in these engineering courses which is something students should look out for.
Campus Life
ALEGRIA is the best Annual Fest you can find in Navi Mumbai with the footfall of over 10000 people in 5 days. There is a lot of fun with different activities and competitions in the fest compiled with celebrity judges. It is something every Pillaite loves. There is an avid Sports curriculum if you are into sports with different amenities and a gym to supplement it at no additional cost. There are various technical clubs like IEEE, ETSA, CSI-PCE as well along with social groups like TAPAS, NSS-PCE, and more. The library has a host of books for students so they don't have any issues. The classes are well equipped with all basic amenities to complement learning.
