Remarks
KIIT has its Kiitee exam(entrance exam) which every student has to appear for if willing to get into the college. Based on the rank achieved in kiitee exam, you will be given slots to arrive for counselling day and preferences are made. You have the choice to choose the branch as per your wish if your ranks are good. Women are given preference in counselling and called on the first day. There is also a quota for sc/st but I don't know much about their process. So here my rank was 620 in the women's category and got CSE easily.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have CSE which is a computer core branch and chose this because I like programming. If you aren't from a programming background then u have to strive in the first and second yearss. Faculties are really helpful and most teachers are really friendly, we can reach them out whenever we face difficulties in anything. Teaching methods are adaptable like nowadays in the covid situation, teachers are putting a lot of effort to bring out most of this. Though offline classes are always more preferable. During the starting of the semester, academic calendar is out, and whole semester examinations are conducted according to it. It is really not difficult to score around 8.5 sgpa but you have to strive for 9.5 a lot.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities arrive from the beginning of the third year itself, mostly having a stipend of more than 35k. If you are getting into a startup then it may be 15k. Companies like high radius, dell, Atlassian, Informatica come for hiring students around the 6th semester. Most of them provide SDE internships for which you have to strengthen data structure skills and programming. You also have to build a strong resume in which there have to be team projects.
Placement Experience
There are lot many opportunities that will be arriving since the beginning of the third year. Placement in computer science is said to be 100% with students graduate with avg package of 5 LPA. The highest package is 36lpa as of now but I believe it depends on students. Companies hiring include dell, HPC, IBM, Infosys, TCS, Qualcomm and many more(because it's one tier college). I also aspire to get into top mnc after graduating from university. Besides on campus, kiit provides resources and opportunities for people doing research and willing for higher studies. There are faculties we can reach out in case of guidance for research purposes.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since this is a private institution, academic fees and hostel fees are costly. It costs around 20 lacs for four years. But I think it's worth it to study in one tier college with all facilities. Though kiit provides scholarships to people who have secured a good rank in kiitee. To maintain the Scholarship, one has to acquire a good sgpa.
Campus Life
Annually there is KIIT fest, which has both technical events, gaming events and cultural events. It is conducted in the month of December for 3 days in which events are held during daytime till 5 pm and concerts are held during evening time from 7-10 pm. Many popular bands and singers are invited in fest. There are 2 Libraries one of which is recently built in March 2020. The new library looks something like an airport, totally air conditioned and has all types of books available. There are many clubs and organisations which are founded by kiit students and for kiit students. I am a part of 3 societies of which 2 are technical and other one is cultural. Being part of technical society brings out good for you. Kiit has sports ground for each game separately. All sport be it football, cricket, volleyball, basketball each has wide area of playground with teams alloted and equipments provided.
Hostel Facilities
I have a 3 people accommodation rented AC room which costs me 50k per semester. We are given with personal study table with chair, bedsheet, pillow, blanket which we have to use throughout 4 years. Girls Hostel meal is good and satisfactory, but there has been always issues with boys hostel meal. Boys aren't given quality food which compels them to each food outside the hostel. For hostels, it's alloted during the counselling day itself and you don't have the choice which you want to share your room. Roommates are allotted randomly and are not easily changeable. Hostels are within the campus, well secured and beautiful. There are in and out times noted for everyone.
