Remarks

First, I applied for Anna University Counselling to join engineering college in Chennai. I got a 179 Cutoff mark in my 12 standard public examinations. On the day of counselling, I choose B.E(ECE) from Velammal Institute of Technology. Then they provide me with an allotment letter to my preferred college. When I went to my college, the Velammal College professors explain to me the admission procedures, fees details, dress code. In the month of June, I completed my college admission procedures and joined in Velammal Institute of Technology. The professors are very helpful and guide me in each and every step of my admission process.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I choose Electronics and Communication Course because this course has career opportunities in both core and IT domains. Faculties in the ECE department in my college are very supportive. We have 2 sections of classes in the ECE department, but facilities treated all of us in the same manner. Each faculty are unique in their way of teaching. Especially, a professor who handled signals and systems and control systems is very supportive and teach us each and every concept of the subject in depth. Faculties spend their time building the best subject notes for us. They prepare us mentally from 1st year of our college for placement opportunities. Other than subjects, they teach us soft skills and how to present ourselves. The faculty separated us into small groups and give assignments and some tasks related to subjects and placement. In our college, we have three Internal examinations. We have to take 35/100 in each subject to get cleared in that. It is quite tough to get a good score in that.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Zoho has provided internships for 12 students with a stipend of Rs.10,000 for 2 months. Other than this, many companies provide internship offers to students with an average stipend of up to Rs.15,000. Some startups provide direct placement offers to students with an average salary of 3 lakhs per annum.

Placement Experience

4.5

In our college, from the 2nd year itself, they made students prepare for placements. They arranged a skill rack platform for us from where we can get prepared for aptitude and coding tests. Nearly our college arranged 60-70 company placement opportunities for our students. Students are placed in top companies like Zoho and amazon with above Rs. 10lakhs per annum packages. Many service companies like Infosys, CTS, Wipro offer huge placement. Nearly 110 students are selected for CTS. Velammal Institute of Technology is maintaining above 96% placement average each year.

Fees and Financial Aid

In our college, the price is affordable including bus fees for day scholars and hostel fees for hostelers. The fees of University quota students is less when compared to management students. On average, my parents spend around, Rs.1,10,000 every year of my academics for my fees. It includes tuition, books, bus, laboratory fees. They also provide scholarship from Velammal trust for students whom parents salary are below Rs.2,00,000/year. They also provide chairman scholarships for students who scored above 8.5 GPA every year. In terms of campus placement, our college arranged top IT Company placements for our students with internships. In my class, nearly 96% of eligible students got campus placement offers.

Campus Life

5

In my college, every year they conducted Innovate project fest to encourage students to create projects on their own and submit them for competition. They also gave prize money around Rs.10,000 for winners. And they frequently conduct webinars, conferences and seminars department wise to improve students activity and knowledge. They also made us participate in hackathons every year.

Placement Experience:

The college provides four tracks for students: the placement track, higher studies track, entrepreneur track and the government exam track. Students can opt for any one track during their third year of study. The campus placements starts from the mid of third year. Mnc's like Accenture, cognizant visited our company the ratio is also good. Lot of startup's and core companies have also hired students.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from 5 th semester ,however they are not allowed to join companies before completing the current course. Many companies have visited like(CTS, Accenture, Soti, cart rabbit , course 5i and many more) in my batch out of 800+ students around 200 - 250 got placed . The highest pacakge is 13.5 LPA and the average package is around 4.5 LPA - 6LPA. College say its 100 percent placement but nowadays its not true because about 20-25 percent students are bot placed because of skill issues. My plan is to get placed in a good company and save some decent amount and start trading.

The placement and the package in this current year is less when compared to previous years. This is due to the more admissions in computer science field and more employees are there.the highest package is 12L/yr . 18% of students will get placed. My plan is to start private construction agency.
