To a beautiful future

I applied for the TNEA counselling process. My cut off for the same is 182.75. My category was BCM. I opted for Velammal College (ECE/CSE/IT) and PSNA college (ECE). Then when the seat allotment was out I got the first priority that I applied for which is VCET-ECE. The admission process in college was smooth. The minimum cut off for govt quota was around 175 for this department but the minimum cut off varies based on our category. SC/ST category has a much lesser cut off compared to others. I'm very happy to have been selected for the same college I wanted to do my course for.

I chose ECE based on my own interest and also because of the various aspects of this field which is very wide in terms of application. In our college, one of the best things about our department is the friendly faculty members we have who treats them as their own friends and children. The faculty: student ratio is about 1:25. The faculty members are easy to approach and highly knowledgeable and qualified in their own domains. Many have completed or pursuing their PhD. The teaching method is very student friendly, easy to understand as they use various sources, videos and books to make us understand the concepts clearly. The internal exams are conducted every month and between that, we have unit tests every 2 weeks, the difficulty level is medium. But it is of really great help when we appear for final semester exams.

Internship opportunities start from Semester 5, there is a lot of companies offering a stipend of around 12K visits to the campus. It's all in our hands of how to use it. If we are good enough and utilise all the placement opportunities and training available, life at Velammal can be better than any other college available.

The best thing about the college is indeed the placement. The students have become eligible for placement since Semester 5. MNC's like Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, TCS, HCL, Amazon etc. More than 70 companies at least visit the campus and we achieve more than 80% placement every year! Especially the department of ECE, CSE, IT always secures better placement results.

There are special scholarships provided by college management to selective students and also we can avail the scholarship that was available through the government. The cost to study is relatively high compared to other colleges here but it is worth it because of the quality of education provided.

Because the college is more focused on academics and placement, I didn't take part in any other activities. But for sports and others who are interested in these extracurricular activities, there are ample opportunities to prove themselves.
