Campus life is worthwhile!

I applied for the colleges affiliated to AKTU after I took the UPTU exam. The minimum cutoff marks in UPTU exam for admission to Galgotia College of Engineering and Technology were 500 at that time. GCET was at 4th rank among the top colleges in Uttar Pradesh. We had to be physically present at the campus for counseling and the fees was paid through Demand Draft (DD) and was 1.33 Lac for the first year (Although the fee structure was changed last year).

I chose BTech Computer Science and Engineering for it is and has been the top branch with most placements in Engineering for the corporate world. The faculty to student ratio is 70:4 (brief figures). 90% of the faculty members are PhD in their respective branches of expertise. The faculty are much dedicated towards their students and are most helpful. They try to provide their best while teaching their students and help them in person too. Per semester there are in total 3 internals/minors and a major which is organized by the AKTU University at the center it provides for each student.

Internships offered through colleges are based on a minimum stipend although they are good for getting experience in the respective fields. Internships are mainly optional and students are required to find internships by themselves.

From 6th-semester students start becoming eligible for stipend-based internships and other things and from 7th semester they are eligible for direct out campus placements. Roughly around 15-20 companies visit the college for campus recruitments. Among them renowned ones which visit the college for in campus placement include- TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra, etc. The highest packages offered are in the range of 10-15 LPA and average lie between 3-6 LPA.

The fees is 125000 per year for BTech in Computer Science which is fixed for the whole BTech Term. Scholarship under the government's scholarship program for the students whose parents are in the private companies or the Indian Army or have an annual income less than 1 Lac qualify for some amount of scholarship and are provided with good amounts of cashback. However students whose parents are in Government Services aren't eligible for the scholarship. Other programs include Scholarships for the parents who qualify for special programs of Government or AKTU.

Amenities in the classroom include wifi, smart classes, ACs, and Adjustable chairs (these are features of CSE Departmental building and it varies from department to department) The interested students can take part in various sports which are provided by the College- Football, Cricket, Badminton, Basketball and other athletic sports like races and hurdles, etc. in Outdoor sports. For Indoor sports enthusiasts, we have chess, carrom, etc. Other extracurricular activities include theater, startups, marketing, etc. There are clubs for the whole college as well as private departmental clubs too. The whole year we students get to visit tons of events and seminars. Although the annual fest Departmental fest Daksh is conducted in May.
