Remarks

I had applied for this college through cap rounds and got allotted this college in the second Cap round. I did not apply for any quota for admission. Minimum 50 % in PCM subjects are required to apply for camp rounds of engineering colleges for open category students. College was allotted based average of Jee mains and PCM score percentile. The cutoff of the second cap round was 81 percentile. Once the college is alloted you would get 3-4 days to pay the one year fees and submit the documents, and confirm your admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I had an interest in subjects like analogue and digital electronics, analogue and digital communication, VLSI, Image and video processing which are part of the EXTC syllabus. I also got a chance to explore coding in different languages like Matlab, C and Java. There is an equal proportion of senior and junior faculties in extc branch. Faculty:student ratio is around 1:15. Some facilities are working on different research projects on the latest technologies like machine learning, data science etc. It helps students while working on projects for the final year or any project competition. There are a total of 8 semesters in 4 years of engineering. In each semester there are 2 unit tests and 1 final semester exam. It is much difficult to score passing marks. You have to score an average of more than 7 marks out of 20 in a unit test. And final semester exam passing is decided by Mumbai University which is 35 out of 100.

Placement Experience

5

Around 20 companies visited the campus. Students in the final year of engineering are eligible to sit for placement. TCS and LTI were mass recruiter companies. Placement for extc branch is not that great compared to CS and IT branches. As most of the companies visiting the campus are IT companies. The average package is around 3 lakh and the Highest package is around 6 lakh. Around 70-80 percent of extc branch students got offers. Some students did not sit for placements, as they were planning for a master degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Total fees for 4 years, of course, was around 4 lakh. There were not many hikes in fees in four years. The placement period started during the 7th semester. LTI was the first company to come for campus recruitment. I got an offer from a TCS ad Assistant system engineer trainee. The stipend was 3.36 lpa.

Campus Life

5

One day Technical fest mosaic is conducted in odd semesters. Different games and competitions take place during this fest. Annual fest IRIS is conducted in even semesters every year. IGNITRA is an intercollege sports festival conducted every year in even semesters. SFIT has college teams for many sports like basketball, football, cricket and volleyball. They are actively participating in many intercollege competitions and have won prizes in them. There are different students committees in college. IETE, IEEE, Robotics are some of the technical committees, and NSS and SRC are some of the social responsibility committees you can be part of.

7th semester or 4th year makes you eligible for internships and placements. NVIDIA visits our college often i don't know much about the placements as im only in first year but yes the eligibility for the placement is over CGPA which eliminates a lot of students during the placements nearly ~75% of the students get placed (including off and in campus) the other 20% pursue higher studies the other 5% go for start ups

Campus placement has good rate. Most of the students passing out get in-campus placements and some of them go abroad for higher education. The average package here is around 700000 to 800000. Very much reliable in placement perspective.
