Remarks

After completing my higher secondary exam I got admission to Midnapore college in 2012. Then it was very tough to get admission to this college because to get admission here it is a must that a 95+ score can be required with the respective honours subject. At that time minimum age of 17+ is required to get admission. After submitting the admission form the shortlisted notice was published rankwise. On a specified date a counselling programme was organised & that day was very important to get an admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Firstly I choose this course because my dream is to become a mathematics teacher. In our department, the number of faculty was 5.Number of students in our department was 100. The teachers are highly qualified as some of them completed their postdoc degrees from various parts of the world. The teachers are very helpful to the students. Teaching methods are also very good. At that point of time yearly one annual exam is conducted & which is very difficult to pass in this exam. Three assessments were taken every 3 months.

Internships Opportunities

5

Various types of companies visit here and various types of offers given for those students who got placed during campusing. During the internship, the accountancy department was handled by those students. Various types of project work are given & told that to be complete within time.

Placement Experience

5

After completing the second year students are getting eligible for the placements during campusing. Bigger branded value companies such as TCS, WIPRO etc. Visited here. More than 50% of the students got offered jobs on those campuses. The highest package around 8 lakh per annum was given by Wipro among one of the students who got placement during the company. Average 4 lakh rs per annum was given by these companies. My plan is after completing the graduate degree to get admission to the university for a master degree in mathematics.

Fees and Financial Aid

In the first year when I got admission total of 1500 rs was taken by the college authority. After that total of 900 rs were taken for the first year for the tuition fees. Various types of scholarships were given to the students who got top marks in their respective final exams. After completing a graduate degree various companies visit here for campusing. More than 50% of the students get jobs at that point of campusing. A high salary like 8 lakh per annum was given by those companies. Average 4 lakh rs were given by those companies. During the training period, they got a stipend of around 1 lakh per year.

Campus Life

5

Sports events are organised in or college ground by college authority during 25th December to 31st December. College students take part in this event. Classrooms in our department are bigger in size. Wifi availability is given to all the students in our department. Our library is bigger in size in terms of the availability of books. The extracurricular activity was organised then.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always found economics to be really interesting and thats why I choose to persue it. I wanted to dive deep into the actual concepts and workings of the economy and understand how the world works from an economist's point of view. Sadly the curriculam doesnt bridge the gap between theory and real life. It focuses heavily on textbook and not how the world works.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would say the course is good but you have to opt for masters and PhD to get a good placement. After bsc there's not any placement. The curriculum was basically practical and theoretical based. But I think it should be more practical so that we can get a job after doing bsc. The teaching method was good I didn't have any problem with that. As it was under Calcutta University so the exam questions were too difficult, sometimes it came out of our syllabus , i think they should change this a little bit .

The syllabus for BSc. Microbiology Hons. was in line with my interests. Few topics like virology, bacteriology, and diversity of the microbial workd are what drew my attention to pick this course. Although there are some portions which one would consider "boring", but I believe every subject has its interesting as well as boring portions. It's seems fair to judge a subject by seeing if the "boring" portions outweigh the "interesting" parts or not.

In terms of relevance and comprehensiveness of the course curriculum, my rating is solid 4.1 out of 5. Because it offers a variety of courses like compulsory english, environmental science, constitution values of India, Inter Disciplinary Courses where one can opt for a variety of subjects which change along with the course proceeds or semester changes. Not only that two major papers and one minor paper are present throughout the semester. As a student we should be well aware of our country and its law as well as how we can keep our environment healthy followed by sustainable development.
