IIT-M is arguably the best Technical Education Institute of India and has been positioned 1st for both overall and BTech NIRF rankings of 2020. It holds AICTE approval also and BTech programs are the most opted programmes here. JOSAA counselling is the aspect as per which seats are allocated in IIT Madras.
Course Curriculum Overview
Having 15+ departments and 8 research fields, IIT Madras is widely spread in terms of diversity also. I chose to opt for CSE branch of BTech program because I was always a technology loving person. I wanted to do something in this particular domain and that's why I decided to pursue this program. The 4 year BTech program consists of 8 semesters & exams are also semester-wise.
Internships Opportunities
I haven't opted for the internship round, but my hard work for the studies gave me good knowledge about Industrial work. Although, I was not able to gain individual experience but still I was okay with it
Placement Experience
Being the No.1 IIT of the country, the placement records at IIT-M are really great. I got a INR 35 LPA salary package and 77% placements were recorded for BTech overall. The CSE branch got 90% of the students placed. The highest package was nearly INR 90 LPA and the top offers were made by firms like Microsoft, Google, Tata Group and HCL.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total BTech program fee at IIT Madras is INR 2.84 lacs which excluded hostel expenses from it. The students of reserved were whereas given concessions in fee and their total dee was INR 17,150 only and the reserved categories were SC/ST caste students.
Campus Life
IIT Madras campus is one of the best among technical institutes in India and numerous event's like Mechanica, Exebit, Shaastra and Icon are there for the students. The library at IIM-M was a blessing for students like me who were also keen to learn. The event's of the Institute regarding the related fields were arranged by cultural committee, placement committee and alumni Interaction cell.
Hostel Facilities
My hostel days in IIT Madras hostels were probably the thing I miss the most. The hostel life was filled with great fun and gave me a ton of lifetime memories. Living in a sharing room I got to be self dependent through the hostel experience and enjoyed them to the fullest. The food was not lesser than any restaurant as a wide range of quality food varieties were available there for the students.
Admission
Admissions here are done similarly to other IITs through the counselling round of JOSAA and as it is the top IIT its Cutoff score is among the highest in the country. The seats to IIT Madras are dependent on the JEE Main and JEE Advance exam score of the students
