I only applied for the Vellore Institute of Technology, in the integrated B.Tech + M.Tech course (5 years course). I study computer science, specializing in business analytics.

I have always been interested in data science and businesses, so I thought that this course can be perfect for me to study both business and computer science together. Faculty here are pretty good and they usually have deep knowledge in their subjects but the fact is they teach limited in the classes due to time constraints, but if you are genuinely interested in anything outside of the syllabus you can approach them and they will guide you in a much better way. Also, there are many teachers who keep you updated about the trending topics in the field and internship-related matters. So keeping a good touch with your faculty will help you a lot in a positive manner.

There are tons of internship opportunities coming throughout the year. You get to work in one of those the only requirement is that you should be dedicated and the CGPA should be on the higher end at least above 8.00

Placements are also decent and if you maintain good CGPA then you can get placed easily. Moreover, the competition is very tough but if you are working a bit hard your chances of getting through the line are pretty high.

For my course tuition, the fee is Rs. 161000 per annum and hostel fees vary on the type of rooms you choose and the mess you choose, anywhere it can be estimated around 1.5 to 2.25 lacs per annum. Although I haven't been to the campus yet so I haven't paid the hostel fees for 1 year so I'm not completely sure about it. It's just an estimate.

Facilities are extremely good there's a huge library, with tons of books not only limited to the courses and the subject but all kinds of books from fiction to the weekly magazine. There are a lot of food outlets where you can enjoy meals with your friends and avoid messy food sometimes. There is also a night canteen available so that you can fill up your cravings during midnight as well. And the campus has a hospital, gyms sports grounds with ample sports equipment, and many other facilities

Everything is online and can be done through their website and a special student portal called vtop. I haven't visited the campus yet but I have been told that the mess food quality is decent and is better than most of the colleges. Although the rules are strict here at vit bit later on we will get used to it.
