Remarks
I applied for Manipal University, VIT, SRM, GRIET. The reason for not attending these colleges was not being able to justify the worth for the amount I was paying, for example in Manipal, including the tuition fees and the hostel fees, the total for the course I selected was approximately 5.5 lakhs, but at the same time, at Mahindra University for 6 lakhs, I get the same or even better facilities than any of these colleges with better hostels and the best part being the low strength of every course which will be very beneficial if you want to build a strong relationship with your professors because the low strength will help the professors and teachers remember our names and faces easily. No, I have not availed any quota, I've got my admission solely based on my JEE score. The admission criteria for my mechanical engineering program is having a minimum score of 88 percentile in JEE MAINS. The admission process was very simple and well organized, we were assigned a college representative
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I always had a keen interest in automobiles and their engines. My college has one of the best faculties in Hyderabad for mechanical engineering. the faculty to student ratio for mechanical engineering is approximately 7 is to 1. Most f the faculty members in my course have a Ph.D. in the subject they are teaching, and most of them are from IITs and Harvard University, and Stanford University. There are three exams conducted every semester, namely MINOR-1, MINOR-2, and the final exams, you also have surprise quizzes and tests which are conducted at the teacher's will as a replacement for assignments. The exams are quite difficult to write, passing the exam isn't that tough cuz we have a system of relative grading.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides ample opportunities for internships, the internships are usually related to the branch you are studying in, they're mostly related to the core topics. A few of the companies that have offered internships are ISIEINDIA, Gurukul, KDM engineers, FOSSEE team at IIT Bombay.
Placement Experience
you become eligible for campus placement from the 6th semester. I myself am in the 5th semester so I haven't had the opportunity for campus placements yet, but I have an idea about the companies that have come to our University, them being Amazon, Dell, Infosys, these are the few names of the companies that have offered placements in our University. The highest package that was offered when we were physically on the campus was approximately 46Lakhs per annum, it was from a Japanese company. My plans after getting my degree are to pursue a master's in automobile engineering. The percentage of students getting placed isn't that impressive because most of the students getting placed are from the CSE branch, few students from the Mechanical branch also get placed but on the IT side.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for my batch is a total of 6 lakhs per annum, which includes everything, the hostel fees, the gymkhana fees, the tuition fees, and the mess fees. The college provides scholarships to the top performers of the year for every course, for example, the top 11 performers of mechanical engineering of the academic year are given a scholarship of 1 lakh rupees and similarly for other streams and courses that are provided in the college. The fees for the new batch of students joining in 2021 might be hiked a little bit.
Campus Life
We at our college have two annual fests conducted, the tech fest called AETHER, and one sports fest called AERO, they are conducted in September and February respectively. The availability of books and journals in the library is pretty good since we have a small strength for every course there is not much need of having large supplies of journals and books. All the rooms on the campus are Air-conditioned and have a lot of room for the students to occupy, the lecture theatres are massive with a strength of approximately 250+ students in a single session, and there are 2 such huge lecture theatres, and there multiple lecture halls which have enough space for 70+ students each, and there 15-19 of these and many more are being constructed. The sports facilities are top-notch with a coach for almost every sport, there are 2-3 gyms on campus with a swimming pool. There are many clubs run by the students, for example, the CSE club called Engima, there is a theater club, and many more.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels in my college are amazing with well-maintained rooms and timely cleaning when the students are attending classes, they recently added air conditioning in the rooms for almost all the hostel buildings, there are both common washrooms and joint washrooms, it depends on your luck as to which hostel building you get. the mess is very close to the hostel buildings for some they're built into the hostel building, there are laundry services for which you have to pay separately and go and give your clothes, they do not come to the rooms. The food quality is amazing at our college, you usually don't hear this from a college-going student, where he/she is appreciating the college food but the food quality is really good. There are four meals a day, breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner, we obviously have other food services like the canteen where you have to pay separately. It is a compulsorily residential college so there is no option for day scholars, the fee is approximately 2L/year.
