Remarks

Admission at Loyola college is informed when your name appears in one of the 3 selection lists published by the college. The selection is based on school background, cultural activities, and academic performances, as well as sports and other quotas (i.e religion, parents occupation, catholic affiliation, etc) I also applied for BBA at DG Vaishnav college and SRM institute and I got through in both these colleges, although I had preferred Loyola college over its college infrastructure. Loyola College has one of the best educational campuses well inside the heart of Chennai city. It is well recognized for its sports and extra-curriculum activities and cultural event's organization and participation. The college is well acknowledged for excellence in higher education, though its main goal is to develop a disciplined and responsible workforce. It focuses on overall student development over a higher academic focus. The college provides deep experience about life.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I chose BBA course as I was keen into the administration and management of business and commerce. The faculty-student ratio is healthy with ample number of academic staff to address to student's education. Not sure about the exact ratio but I guess it's 1 faculty staff for every 20-25 students which is good. Point being the quality of staff is where the college needs to improve, bring in trained teachers and experienced lecturers who can interact with the future generation in a dynamic way. Term exams are conducted every 6 weeks and it's quite simple to get through the test with short and simple preparations.

Internships Opportunities

3

I applied for an internship at RWD. Project outcome was a simple 14 day internship at the company and we had to prepare a report about the programme. We were asked to submit daily worksheets and our performance was graded by the company guides.

Placement Experience

3

Students are eligible for placement from the 5th semester. Companies that visited include Accenture, BYJUS, Tresvista, Ather etc. 25 plus placement offers were made to eligible students. Package is very basic for BBA students starting from 4lac to 8 lac.Very few students are placed from college roughly 500 from a total of 14,000 students. After getting degree my plan is to work at real estate and construction business company.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees per semester is 35,000 on average. Other fees adds up a few thousand which makes it roughly 40,000 per semester. Quite expensive for the 2nd Shift of the day I.e evening shift which is unaided. The morning shift is more affordable which focuses on economically weaker students whose fees is subsidized by the government. Financial assistance to weaker students is provided based on students' merit and background. I've heard of few waivers and other support policies too. Placement opportunities are vast in Loyola college with many major corporates looking to hire fresh talents from the college.Yet it's quite difficult to get through the interview process.

Campus Life

4.5

The college organises its cultural fest called "Ovations" every year, inviting students for colleges around the country. The event is well recognised and many known personalities attended the event to make it grand. Library is huge with lot of books , also the mere is a digital library with internet facilities. Classroom has projector and screen with a computer system to display lessons. There is WiFi connectivity around the college although we students didn't have access to the college WiFi. It was provided on permission for coordinator and only for teaching purposes. The college has large sports grounds for cricket and football. Huge courts for basketball, tennis, volley ball etc. The college lacks a proper air conditioned auditorium with most events being conducted in a hall above the library or on the open spaces. Many social clubs operate from the college that provide services such as NCC, Rotary etc.

Interview Experience

4

Personal interview was causal discussion about future goals and basic testing of communication skills and knowledge. Process was simple, just had to meet the vice-principal and they would conduct the interview at their office, one on one. High-school grades are considered for educational performance, although they are not of much importance as mentioned before.
