Remarks
Admission is based on the basis of JEE Advanced exam. I've got admission to the 4-year course of mineral and metallurgical engineering with the quota of EWS category. The admission process is very simple, after the exam we've to pay some seat registration fees and fill our choices according to priority. There's a total of 7 rounds in which, in each round we've got 3 choices, whether to slide, float or accept our seat. After the final round, we've to complete the remaining formalities of the college, and the admission is done.
Course Curriculum Overview
See, basically, it's our first year and we've never been to our college. As far as online classes are concerned, the duration is about 6-7 hours a day(not continuous). 90% of the Professors are nice, you can ask your doubt during the class and they'll answer them nicely. Weekly assignments are given for each subject and evaluation is done by 4 quizzes and 1 end semester exam. The difficulty level for each exam varies with every subject/prof. The faculty to the student ratio is good in our college. I've chosen this course because the earth science branches are quite good in my college as compared to other IITs.
Internships Opportunities
As this is my first year, don't know much about the internship opportunities. But, many companies do come to our college for internships! I know many seniors who got internships in good companies like TATA Steel, ONGC, BHEL, etc.
Placement Experience
A number of companies visit our college every year. The majority of the high-paying companies mostly include IT companies like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, etc. Placement in the core sector is also good but, not as good as the IT sector and this is the case with every college in India. But, I can definitely say that its core placement is good especially for the earth science branches, better than most of the colleges! Many students also go abroad for higher studies in prestigious universities of the world.
Fees and Financial Aid
The semester fee of our college's first general/OBC category student is approximately 1.10 lacs(without any fee waiver or scholarship). The fee waiver is provided to students on the basis of their family income. College authority asks for numerous documents as proof, but this process of arranging all these documents and submitting them is pretty hectic. A number of scholarship opportunities are provided to the students based on their family income and their GPA(JEE rank for newly admitted students).
Campus Life
The name of the annual cultural fest and technical fest of our college are 'Srijan' and 'Concetto' respectively. Since the 2024 batch didn't get to see any of the fests yet, I can say much about it. But, as far as seniors have told us, it's freaking awesome! Our college has a number of societies for almost every field like dance, music, Hindi/English literature, robotics, photography, cinematography, stand-up comedy, etc. The library in our college is pretty big and it's one of the biggest digital libraries in India.
Hostel Facilities
Can't tell, because didn't experience hostel Life yet. But, according to the seniors, it's amazing, and the food is good. We've given free high-speed wifi( jio 1gb/day) and a decent LAN connection. We've given a bed, almirah and a chair & table for studies.
