Remarks

The JEC Jabalpur is gov. engg. college of MP state and I am from other states (U.P.). The MP government provides a 3-5% quota to other state students in the admission seat of gov colleges of MP and no such barrier on private colleges. I thus competed on 4 seats among 90 seats in the IP branch. There is no admission test for entrance to MP engineering colleges since 2014. The admissions are based on JEE MAINS score. I applied to this college as my priority and third branch after CIvil and mechanical. The admission is based on the ranking of your JEE mains among the students who applied for the admission. First of all, you need to register at MP Online regarding the counselling notification. After registration, there is choice filling and after done with that after some days comes the first list of allotment after which either you can freeze or float the choice. Then you can accept the offer and take admission at the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose this course IP because I love the content of the course and wanted to do higher studies in this engg. and currently, I am doing PhD in Industrial Engg. from IIT Delhi. The faculty-student ratio is 1:20. All faculties are postgraduate and one is a doctorate. The teaching method is pretty good. There are few ad-hoc faculties that also are indulged in the teaching activities. They use ppt presentations, try to arrange industry visits to help in the teaching. The most amazing thing about this college is the exam conducted here. Being autonomous, the questions are framed via college faculties and copies are also checked here only with different faculty apart from the faculty teaching that course. The exams are conducted via fair means and some subjects are difficult to pass. The question is framed as per policies of the ratio of easy, medium, and hard questions and every year different questions come with a different pattern. So always a new experience.

Placement Experience

1.5

From the 7th sem, students take part in placements. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cap Gemini, Oxygen, L&T, Accenture etc. visit the college. Overall 10-15 companies visit every year. For IP, only IT companies and consultancy companies visit the most. Out of 90 approx 30% get placed usually but exceptions are there as per the situations like recession or covid. The IT companies recruit in bulk and another hire specific no. and branch. The highest was offered 8 lakh. There is NCC unit MP4CTR so anyone trying to CDS and other defence services can take an opportunity from there. Also, there is an encouragement given for GATE and free lectures are arranged by experts for the needfuls. I had planned for higher studies and thus started doing MTech from NIT Kurukshetra.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees are per semester. When I studied it was 12400/- INR per semester and 700/- INR exam fee. According to my, the current fee would be the same with a marginal increase of 500 per semester, if it is. Overall the cost, of course, is 1 lakh for four yrs and additional charges like exam fee, portal renewal fee etc. There is scholarship provided by the college for OBC and SC ST students. Students falling to this category can apply offline at the student cell along with the required documents like caste certificate, marksheet etc. The amount one get as far as I know was 7000-8000 per sem. Their sem fee of reserved students is also 2500/- to 4000/- INR per sem instead of 12400/- per sem. Most companies visiting are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T, Cap gemini etc. Core companies are not regular they visit every two year or three like of mechanical, electrical and civil. For IP only IT and consultancy companies visit with package of 350000/- to 400000/- per annum.

Campus Life

5

The biggest fest is AUREOLE organized by all branches collectively. Apart from this, there are two more big fests organized by electrical and mechanical dept. There is an alumni fest called MILAN to welcome the alumni of past batches. There is a vast library (fully digitalized) and in general, OBC gets 3 books to be issued at a time for the semester and SC-ST gets 5 books. The issue and return are easy and the library is a good place for your preparation and is open till the college hours only. Only a few journals are available. Classrooms have CCTV for monitoring. Every dept has a room for a projector for teaching. Throughout the yr, many sports activities like interbranch and intercollege Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Kho Kho, Kabaddi, TT, Badminton happens time to time and a sports fest is also held every yr in Feb-march. In fests, cocurricular are held. There are few social groups as well and famous is Karwaan for educating orphanages.

Course Curriculum Overview:

i would rate the curriculum around 5 or 6 out of 10. i chose this course mainly because of the computer and coding subjects. the syllabus is mostly theory based and many topics are not very useful for current industry needs. practical classes and real projects are also limited. more coding, projects and updated technologies should be added. exams are frequent during the semester and the difficulty is mostly average but sometimes checking feels strict.
