Remarks

I've always wanted to pursue engineering but that too from a reputed government college. I searched for all the colleges of Uttarakhand but turned out that I couldn't afford private colleges and couldn't take admission in the state university either( I was not meeting the required JEE Mains Cutoff). I got to know about Gautam Buddha University through a friend of mine and I applied for the entrance examination of the university for the course of B. Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. GBU has its own cut-off for entrance exams (GPTU/ GPT/ GPTR) and gives admission on a direct basis as well. I cleared the exam and got admission to the university with a computer science branch. As far as B. Tech is concerned GBU mentions minimum eligibility of 75% of marks in high school but I've seen students getting admission with much lower marks. The counseling is like any other college but sometimes fee/course-related issues consume a lot of time to be solved here in GBU.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Faculties have a good knowledge of the subjects and are very supportive towards the students. GBU has permanent (M.Tech/PhD) and guest faculties who have good command in their respective subjects. GBU has increased the no. of seats being given for a particular branch which resulted in a whole new section of the batch, so sometimes teachers have to take combined classes of almost 120 students. GBU started taking Mid-term examinations from 2019 as the 2018 batch had not given them, but the test is easy and is a great way for students to check their academic progress.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for all the 4 year B. Tech course is around 7 lakhs, which is appropriate as it's a state government university. The only exception is that, here admissions are offered in the self finance mode and the fees for them is slightly on the higher side. As fas as scholarships are concerned, GBU has many scholarship schemes available for the students. The one I know about is the state cum merit scholarship. Scholarships are also offered to the students who belong to SC/ST/OBC category. But if you want to apply for the scholarship in GBU it wouldn't be an easy task as the administration of GBU requires every proper details and has a habit of taking a lot of time for even a much easier task.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual fest of GBU is one of the most amazing fests in all the universities of Greater Noida. The first reason is the 511(approx) acres campus and 3 large auditoriums. Inter-University competitions, band performances, skits, dramas, mono acts everything is performed in the fest. The library is one of the most amazing things in GBU due to its infrastructure and design and more than 3 floors. So many books are available in the library and anybody would love to spend time in there. Classrooms (for SoICT) are fine and have basic amenities, but they aren't as large as compared to the management ones. GBU, due to its huge campus, has more than 2 big playgrounds and provides all the facilities and exposure for sports-related activities. Sports fests are also there and students take part in them with all the excitement. There are various clubs in GBU for different activities, some perform well and some are just not very active as I have seen. Dramatics/ music/ debates/ yoga and many more are there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course structure is good of btech but there there is only thing I don't like is that in btech course the subjects in first year are not related to career of students because there is physics, chemistry other irrelevant subjects present in first year but in second year the course become interesting and relevant. Curriculum is good and prepare well for real world applications. The exams comes frequently every month there is a class test but class tests are moderate on the basis of there difficulty level.

Placement Experience:

The students are eligible for placements in the final year. The college offers basic placement training and assistance. Some local and local-level comanies even visit for campus recruitment with average offers. Average package: 2-4 LPA, highest around 9-10 LPA 60-90 percent students get placed. My plan is to develop my skills and attain a good job or go for higher studies after degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

course curriculum is little bit out-dated, and improvements are needed in terms of syllabus. timing of exams are ok ok. so many assignments are given which is really hectic because their are deadlines to upload those assignments in google classroom. and one thing i hate about college is 75% attendence is must. due to this we do not get much time for our personal development.
