Remarks

This institute was my first choice and I got green in first go. The admission process was quite easy and it would not take more than 2 hours to complete all the formalities. I have not availed any quota for my admission and still, it was a very gentle process. The admission criteria they gave for the admission was that there should be no subjects that are not cleared in 2nd (12th) PUC. Other than the above-mentioned criteria, there was no hurdles. The admission faculty was quite friendly with everyone and they had done all the documentation process themselves. The students were told about their courses and how the class will take place. All the study and document-related queries were entertained by the admission office. The fees were waived off to a certain limit for students who scored good in their 12th or PUC class. They provided all the students with brochures of the college and the first installment of tuition was made to pay. Tuition fees can be easily paid in installments.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The reason for choosing this course was the skills I had previously in this field. I had to furnish my skills but theoretical knowledge was also important to balance and execute the skill work. The faculty: student ratio in the mechanical branch is 1:4 and that's quite good as there's a focus on each and every single student present in the lecture. The faculty is appointed on the basis of a master's degree and the senior faculty members hold PhD degree. The term exams are quite easy as it is based on the assignment they gave you in between the classes. One can easily score highest marks just by giving proper time and focus to the subject for 1 week. The teachers here find a good and creative way to teach the students by making powerpoint presentations. They don't force the students for attending the classes but doubt sessions are compulsory to attend in order to see the progress of students and make their doubts clear. Term exams are often cleared with no burden or stress.

Internships Opportunities

4

The internship is provided by good companies like BHEL, JCB and other establishments. Even in the time of the pandemic, many companies are offering online internships so that the students are more exposed to the industries just by sitting in their safe places and able to develop more skills. The college updates you regularly on the internships and always ready to help you in the process of getting one. In the last year of engineering course, students are required to complete a project as directed by the affiliated university i.e. Visvesraya Technical University. We got a project on motors and how can they be more efficient. We tried different ways and finally adding few hand-made instruments resulted in a positive outcome. The task was assigned to four students and everyone contributed equal to the project with a good dedication. The project was presented with full knowledge and preparation to make the hard work look more visible.

Placement Experience

4.5

The students are eligible for campus placements after the 6th semester. The criteria for good companies are the CGPA above 8.5 and there are many students who achieved the same. The companies that visited here last year were Hewlett Packard (HP), Asus, San Disks, Dell and Wipro. Some other companies also visited the campus but the list will get too long. Nearly all the students are placed once their degree is over but only a few continue with an offer they got in campus placements because many opt for higher education abroad or entrepreneurship. My plans after the degree is to secure a seat in a good college abroad and complete my master's degree there and later the doctorate. I too got placements from two companies but I think going abroad will be more suitable for me and my higher studies. The highest package that a student got last year in campus placement was 10 lakhs/annum. The majority of the students were placed in the bracket of 4-5 lakhs/annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for all the course remains the same. It is 85000/year for general category students and 20000/year for CET-based students. The fees is hiked after every 2 years and students can pay the fees in installments after discussing their reasons for the same with the admission office. The faculty of admission office is student-friendly and your query will always be entertained at the earliest. The college will update the students with the scholarships available and the method to avail them. The college helps the students in availing the bank loan facility for students. They can waive off the fees to a certain extent for the students who are not able to bear the expenses. Their no job on campus and the student has to rely on other sources for the same. They have quite a skilled staff and lab in charge which are enough to look after the classes. The student's proportion makes it difficult to give them job on campus and that too with stipend.

Campus Life

5

The institute conducts an annual fest 'Vibes' in the month of April. The tech fest is organised in the month of November and almost all the students had to take part in it. The library is undoubtedly the best one can ever find. All the books, magazines & daily newspapers are available and library cards are issued that can be used to avail the facility of issuing the books. Maximum two books are allowed for issuance simultaneously. The extracurricular activities are performed by different groups created within the campus and sports events are held once a semester. The information about the college and faculty can be found on the website made by them. There are different clubs which are there on the campus and one can easily become a member of them depending on the skill they possess. There's a sitting facility for students near the college gate in case someone has got a free period or half-day is there.

Placements at NITK Surathkal are very good overall, and the EEE department consistently sees a high percentage of students getting placed-85% to 90%+ However the placement profiles and salaries vary a lot depending on whether you go core electrical jobs , software/IT jobs we students become eligible for placements from the 6th semester companies start arriving fro pre placement talks and tests ,some students also get PPOs done in the 3rd year summer internshis companies visiting nitk for eee students are: TEXAS INSTRUMENTS SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC SIEMENS ABB L&T TATA POWER BOSCH. My personal plans after getting degree is either get placed in a good company then later prepare for civils services examination.

Placement Experience:

The students become eligible for placement on final year, they have to maintain their grad points in every semister about 8 for a good package. Even some times grade points level down in front of skills and other courses made externally, so skill development is most important. Some of the companies like Wipro, L and T, Isro, Tech mahindra, Skanray, Keynes and so on were their on campus. But our many faculties help every student who is need of a job, with every possible off campus placements. Placment department are trying their best for all skilled, top rank and low rank students for placements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Since my kcet rank was low I want a good clg so I choose this college I choose electrical and electronics. also I'm very interested in electrical department I wanted eee branch so I choose this Curriculum actually helps you to learn and solve real world problems since it's a core branch you have to concentrate on our syllabus. We get to learn lot of things also we have 4 labs there you can learn practically . In our clg they additionally we have lab Called skill lab there you can learn lot of things additionally . I feel they should add some programming language as subject in eee additionally even though we learn that in 1st year there should be continuous so . Even our colleges provide boot camps for 10 days every sem where experienced trainer will come and teach you but I feel that's not enough they have include programming languages as our part of curriculum. In internals they provide 1hour time for for 30 marks and sem exams 3hr for 100 marks so it's manageable .
