Remarks

This college is an autonomous college offering good facilities in every aspects like academics, sports, cultural events, and also inculcates good leadership qualities in students through their STUDENT UNION ELECTIONS. Both the teaching and the non teaching staff are very friendly and very responsible. The college also organizes educational tours, field visits and Industrial visits too. The admission process is very simple, where the student have to go and collect the application form from the office at the campus. The application fee will be around 150-200 rupees. Generally, application forms will be available from mid of May of that particular academic year. The classes will commence from approximately first week of JULY. The main reason for preferring this college is because of its unique course, PBZ(Psychology, Botany, Zoology) . Generally, psychology subject is taken under ARTS in many colleges. But here, the inclusion of the subject under SCIENCE gives it more weightage to it .

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As already mentioned, This course is very unique, where we get to study Psychology under science , this also enables us to be eligible for obtaining MATERS IN SCIENCE IN PSYCHOLOGY later. There are 2permanent and 1 guest faculty in Psychology Department. The maximum admissions done under this course, PBZ per year is not more than 30. The faculty are well qualified for teaching the Under graduate students. The permanent faculties have cleared their SLET exams and one holds a Doctorate degree too. The teaching method is very comfortable , where both chalk-and-board and Power point presentations are used. A syllabus copy along with a question bank containing MCQ, 2 markers, 5 markers and 10 markers for every chapter is given at the beginning of the semesters itself. A fully printed practical record is also given from the department itself. Every semester has 2 internals tests and a final exam in both theory and practical too . The level of difficulty of the exams is moderate.

Internships Opportunities

4

I would like to make it clear that the college will not offer any internship programs . Its the students who have to find the institutes that they can work as an intern in .I was opted for an internship under Psychology field, . We had another guest faculty for the add on course in Psychology who was also serving as the HOD in one of the Special schools in RT Nagar. We( PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS) were given an opportunity to work as interns there for 10 hours , we had paid them certain amount as fee and intern we got a certificate showing that we have completed so many hours of internship. The basic plan of this internship was to observe the differently abled or special children and observe the way they are treated in terms of speech therapies , cognitive- behavioral therapy etc. and we had to submit a report on each case we observed. But personally I feel we had to get more hours for a better understanding the purpose of it.

Placement Experience

2.5

Since I have not undergone this campus selection process, I might not be able to give much and accurate information about this, but can tell about what my friends have gone through, to the best of my knowledge. The students of final year are generally eligible for the campus recruitments here. Before undergoing the process, they are given special training on how to attend the interviews or group discussions and are well informed about the major expectations from the respective companies. Eminent companies like INFOSYS, TCS, ACCENTURE ETC., offer jobs on campus and around 20%of the recruitments are finalized. Many students from science background generally do not opt for the campus selections as they prefer higher education. I too considered higher studies as my priority over campus recruitments. As a result, currently I am pursuing MSc in Clinical Psychology in University Of Mysore.

Fees and Financial Aid

The initial fee for the course PBZ was 29500/- for the first year. For the second year, the annual fee was approximately 32000 and in the final year it was 35000. The annual fee includes the fee for both the semesters along with the tuition fee, lab fee, maintenance fee and the fee for the ADD-ON course . A greater fee concession of about 25% is given to meritorious students of economically weaker sections is given. The rank holders or high marks securers of any particular subject will also be rewarded a cash prize and a certificate in the name of the great personalities in that particular field. The are recruitments during campus selections too. But unfortunately, not many recruitments for students from BSC background and specially this combination .

Campus Life

4

The campus is very student friendly. The annual college fest is TARANGA , where there will be lot of cultural events happening. The annual science fest that happens is SAMAGATHA , it generally happens during January- Feb. During the science fest , there are many academic related activities like FOOD FOR THOUGHT, POSTER PRESENTATIONS, INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES, DEBATES and LECTURES. The library is well maintained with good reference books in multiple copies . It also has internet facilities and also is equipped with good wi-fi facility too. Books for competitive exams is also made available along with news papers like THE HINDU and also many food science journals. The classrooms have a blackboard along with a smart board and a projector for seminars and regular classes. There are many stalls put up in the college quadrangle during fests by both college students and outsiders. There are clubs like, STUDENT WELFARE CLUB, WOMEN'S GRIEVENCE CLUB, NCC , NSS, ALUMNI CLUB and STUDENT UNION.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements right after completing their B.Math(Hons) degree, i.e after their 6th semester. Companies like Microsoft, Google, LinkedIn, Wipro, and other Multinational Companies visit and every student gets an offer from one company or the other. The package ranges from 10LPA to 25LPA. Those students who opt for placement after their B.Math(Hons) course is over, all get a placement offer while most of the students prefer to continue their Master's Degree. I too would like to complete my Master's Degree after my bachelor and think about further options thereafter.
